    摘要: In a switching arrangement, a plurality of modules are connected such that the main switching elements, FETs 2, are in series. Control of and power to the FETs 2 is supplied via a single turn primary 3 passing through a plurality of toroidal secondary transformers 4. A train of control pulses is applied to the single turn primary 3 and their polarity determines whether the main FET 2 is switched on or off, the length of the pulse train determining the pulse width and PRF of the output of the switching arrangement. The control pulses are also used to supply power to the main driver 10 of the main FET 2.

    摘要: In an intra oral dental X-ray system, a solid state imager (1) includes an array of CMOS pixel circuits (6) and has a fibre optic taper (5) located between the array (6) and scintillator material (4). During use, X-ray radiation transmitted via an object (2) to be imaged from a source (3) and is incident on the scintillator material (4) where it is converted into light. The light is transmitted via the taper (5) to the array (6) where an image is generated which is representative of the radiation transmitted through the object (2). The fibre optic taper (5) provides good image quality and maintains resolution.

    摘要: In a manufacturing method of a solar cell arrangement, a p-n junction is formed in semiconductor material which is then separated to give a main body and an off-cut. The off-cut is connected in reverse parallel across the main body so as to act as a protection diode for a solar cell which comprises that main body. The off-cut protection diode may be placed adjacent the main body or may alternatively be mounted on the front or rear of the solar cell.

A grid lead 10 supplies a voltage to the grid 3 and includes a filter comprising a capacitor 11 and inductor 12 which are both approximately one quarter wavelength long at a selected frequency to reduce or prevent rf leakage along the grid lead. The grid lead is arranged to extend through the cavity 5 and is located within the interior space which is surrounded by the annular cavity 5.

The material absorbs r.f. energy, reducing coupling between different parts of the tube which could otherwise result in undesirable oscillation. Furthermore, its provision on part of the input cavity wall enables easy access to be made for replacement and servicing requirements.

    摘要: An electron gun arrangement which is particularly suitable for use in travelling wave tubes includes a substantially cylindrical ceramic body (20) which partly defines a vacuum envelope. The body (20) surrounds an electrode assembly constituted by cathode (21), grids (22,23 and 24) and an anode (25). The leads to the grids and cathode are extensive in a generally longitudinal axial direction at the end of the body (20) remote from the anode (25), electrical connection being made via pins (30-33) and metallised apertures (26-29) extensive longitudinally through the wall of the body (20). The internal diameter of the body (20) may be stepped to define ridges (38-40) to which supports for parts of the electrode assembly are fixed.
