    摘要: A differential mechanism (10) includes a housing portion (12) having a generally annular wall (14) with a generally annular inner surface (16). The annular wall (14) defines an open end (20) of the housing portion. The lid (24) is affixed to the open end forming an enclosure (30) with the housing portion (12). The opposing side bevel gears (32) are in driving engagement with at least one bevel pinion assembly (34) . The bevel pinion assembly (34) includes at least one bevel pinion shaft (36) with opposing axial ends (38), each supporting a side bevel gear. The bevel opinion assembly (34) and the side bevel gears (40) are disposed within said enclosure. The annular inner surface (16) defines at least two receptors (18) having ingress’s, each receptorengaging one axial end of the pinion shaft (36) independently of the lid (24).

    摘要: A torque converter housing includes an end cover (30) that is secured to an impeller outer wall (28) in a unique manner. The outward portions of the end cover (30) extend in a radial direction but not in an axial direction. The end cover (30) preferably does not extend axially beyond a plane of a clutch (42) supported within the assembly. The impeller outer wall (28) extends axially beyond the plane where it is secured to the end cover (30). The inventive arrangement changes the location of the connection between the impeller outer wall (28) and the end cover (30), which enables the use of various other optional and advantageous features of the inventive arrangement. In one example, the impeller outer wall (28) is welded to the end cover (30). In another example, a threaded connection secures the impeller outer wall (28) to the end cover (30).
