    摘要： An animal repellent is disclosed which is based on a metabolic action of a microorganism with an inorganic substance such as compounds of selenium, tellurium and arsenic, to produce a strong, pungent, obnoxious odour which repels animals. Also a method of repelling animals and thereby reducing animal browsing of plants is disclosed, which comprises providing the plants with an effective dose of the novel animal repellent, activating the same, and allowing it to remain on or in the vicinity of the plant for the duration of repellency.

    摘要： Ein Mittel zum Imprägnieren von Holz enthält als Wirkbestandteil ein Gemisch aus wenigstens zwei der nachstehend genannten Stoffe Natriumfluorid, Tannin (C₇₆H₅₂O₄₆), 3,4,5-Trihydroxybenzolcarbonsäure, 2-Hydroxybenzolcarbonsäure, Benzolcarbonsäure und Fungichromin (C₃₅H₅₈O₁₂.H₂O) und zwar in Mengen von 0 bis 50 Gew.-% Natriumfluorid, 0 bis 90 Gew.-% Tannin, 0 bis 50 Gew.-% 3,4,5-Trihydroxybenzolcarbonsäure, 0 bis 40 Gew.-% 2-Hydroxybenzolcarbonsäure, 0 bis 40 Gew.-% Benzolcarbonsäure und 0 bis 10 Gew.-% Fungichromin. Das Mittel kann zur Kesselimprägnierung mit einem Verdünnungsmittel (Wasser) und zur Impfimprägnierung mit einem Bindemittel versetzt sein. Das Mittel kann auch beim Prüfen des Zustandes von Holz verwendet werden, bei dem man die zum Eindrücken einer Hohlnadel in das Holz aufgewendete Kraft erfaßt. Um das Eindrücken der Nadel zu erleichtern und das Holz im Bereich des Einstichkanals vor dem Angriff von Fäulnisbakterien zu schützen, wird aus der Hohlnadel während des Eindrükkens durch eine im Bereich des vorderen Endes der Hohlnadel angeordnete Öffnung ein vorzugsweise pastöses Mittel zum Imprägnieren von Holz ausgepreßt.

    摘要： There is described a wood preservative composition which comprises a wood preservative such as a chromated copper arsenate-oil emulsion or an ammoniacal copper arsenate emulsion having 0.1 to 15 percent chromated copper arsenate, ammoniacal copper arsenate, or ammoniacal copper zinc arsenate, 1 to 20 percent oil and 0.3 to 2.5 percent (based on total final emulsion) surfactant material. The surfactant material may comprise a first surfactant, preferably having a hydrophilic/lipophilic balance of 7 to 9.5 and a second surfactant having a hydrophilic/lipophilic balance of 15 to 20. It is preferred that the first surfactant have an ethoxyl mole ratio less than 5 and that the second surfactant have a mole ratio greater than 15.
