Abstract:
Abstract:
A patch (26, 36, 50, 66, 86, 88, 94, 100, 114, 120, 120A, 122, 126, 128, 130, 132, 150, 152) of low friction materials, such as a film of polytetrafluoroethylene (12, 28, 38, 52, 53, 60, 72, 86) is sized to provide an area of low friction support for a portion of a human body (80) relative to an object such as a shoe (82) or prosthetic socket (124, 142). The patch (26, 36, 50, 66, 86, 88, 94, 100, 114, 120, 120A, 122, 126, 128, 130, 132, 150, 152) can be lined with foam (30, 42, 56), or preferably, a stretch fabric (14, 40, 70) so that it will fit around irregular contours of the shoe (82), or socket (124, 142), or the skin itself. The patches (26, 36, 50, 66, 86, 88, 94, 100, 114, 120, 120A, 122, 126, 128, 130, 132, 150, 152) reduce shear trauma in critical load areas. After identifying regions of high loads, the method comprises applying the patches (26, 36, 50, 66, 86, 88, 94, 100, 114, 120, 120A, 122, 126, 128, 130, 132, 150, 152) as needed to avoid sores, calluses, blisters and abrasions.
Abstract:
A footwear insert comprising an insert member, the insert member comprising a first surface and a second surface, the first surface opposing the second surface, the first surface comprising a releasable attachment for an internal portion of footwear and the second surface comprising a releasable attachment for a foot. The insert may be a heel insert. There is also provided a kit comprising: a) a first insert member; and b) two or more second insert members, and a kit comprising two or more second insert members. The presence of a second surface with a releasable attachment to the foot means that the foot is indirectly attached to the inside of the footwear via the insert member and its attachment to the footwear. This impedes the foot slipping from the footwear and prevents movement of the foot against the insert member.
Abstract:
A means which functions to improve the fit of shoes is described whereby the shoe is urged forward on the foot to minimize slippage of the backpart of the shoe relative to the heel of the wearer's foot.
Abstract:
An upper includes an inner skin placed on a wear's skin side, and an outer skin placed on an opposite side from the inner skin, wherein a sponge member is housed between the inner skin and the outer skin in a heel portion; the sponge member includes a medial side portion covering a medial side of a calcaneal bone, and a lateral side portion covering a lateral side of the calcaneal bone; and in a developed view where the sponge member is unfolded into a planar shape, a height of a lateral first centroid of a portion corresponding to the lateral side portion is set to be higher than a height of a medial first centroid of a portion corresponding to the medial side portion.
Abstract:
An insert for high-heeled footwear comprises a forefoot insert having a raised portion, and an arch insert having a generally concave base adapted to fit against the heel of the foot to prevent the foot from sliding forward. The forefoot insert and arch insert are placed in high-heeled footwear. The raised portion is adapted to fit under the three middle toes to prevent forward movement of the foot.
