    摘要： A combination locking mechanism is disclosed and in particular a strap lock that is secured via a rotary combination dial mechanism is disclosed. The lock mechanism includes a clasp and a clasp receiver and when locked the clasp engages the clasp receiver creating a loop. The clasp receiver includes two sections, a body and a latch member both contained within a housing and create a shear line between them. When the combination lock is in a locked condition at least two pins straddle the shear line and when in an unlocked condition the pins do not straddle the shear line. Contained within the body is the combination dial. It includes a digit wheel and a pin receiver. When first received the user rotates the digit wheel on each combination dial to set a code for the unlocked condition, in which a portion of the pins enter the pin receiver and therefore are not straddling the shear line. Any other digit combination after this point will put the lock in a locked condition. The code set for the lock can be changed by the user at any point.

    摘要： A security device (1) which includes a locking member (3), a ratchet member (4), and a plurality of cables (5). The cables extend through both a fastener (7) and a base (8) of the locking member and are wrapped around all six sides of a book or box-like structure (2). The fastener is releasably snap-fitted into the base and secured therein by a pair of metal tines (35). The ratchet member includes a housing (50) containing a gear (56) and bearing member (54) which are latched together in a spaced relationship to form a reel (100) and a pawl (52). A bottom plate (58) encloses the contents of the housing. The gear includes a multi-sided key hole (95), a plurality of openings (90) to secure enlarged ends of the cables therein, and a plurality of teeth (80). The gear and bearing member each include an annular nub (75) which sits in and rotates around a corresponding bearing surface of the bottom plate and housing, respectively. The pawl has a catch (110) and a resilient spring (108) and communicates with the gear to allow the ratchet member to be turned only in one direction. Two specialized tools (115, 120) are required to tighten the device around the box-like structure and to remove the security device from the same.
