摘要: When displaying visual targets on a planar display element and performing vision examinations, the size of the visual target visible to the subject changes according to the position at which the visual target is displayed. This vision examination device 1 comprises: a planar display element 12 that displays visual targets to a subject of a vision examination; and a display optical system 11 (19, 20, 21) provided upon an optical axis 18 between an eyeball position at which an eyeball 8 of the subject is arranged and a display screen 12a of the planar display element 12. The display optical system 11 comprises an f-¸ optical system having a proportional relationship between an image height on the display screen 12a of the planar display element 12 and the angle of incidence ¸ for the main light rays when the subject views the visual target through the display optical system 11 from the eyeball position.

摘要: A pixel light source apparatus, system and method are disclosed for a stimulus source for visual pathway testing. A representative system includes a plurality of pixel light sources and a control and driver circuit. The pixel light sources are coupled to each other to form a partially-spherical dome, with each pixel light source arranged to emit light directed to a convergent location of the partially-spherical dome. The control and driver circuit implements a selected stimulus protocol to selectively energize each pixel light source to generate light stimulation to any arbitrary or selected portion of the retina of an eye of a human subject. A representative pixel light source comprises at least one elongated and optically opaque side wall; a rear wall; an illumination source; a first optical element defining a first light chamber; and a second optical element defining a second light chamber.

摘要: A method for evaluating retinal function and testing the visual field of a patient by monitoring how the patient tracks a target image on a display that comprises displaying the target image on the display such that it is located at a first position on the display and visible to the patient. The process continues by identifying what portion of the display the patient is looking at, selecting a location of the patient's retina to test, and calculating, based at least in part on what portion of the display the patient is looking at, a second position on the display corresponding to the selected location of the patient's retina. The target image is displayed at the second position on the display and the process identifies how many eye movements the patient made to look at the target at the second position. Based at least in part on the number of eye movements, the process determines whether the patient was able to see the target at the second position.

摘要: In one example of the invention a patient display is provided on which a fixation graphic or video is shown in substantially the center of the display, and then target graphics or video are shown at different positions on the display about the center. A test subject is positioned in front of the patient display a known distance therefrom, and a camera captures an image of the test subject's eyes, to allow gaze direction determination to be performed. The captured images are displayed to a clinician user by a controlling test application, the clinician making a determination based on the images as to whether the test subject saw a target graphic or video when it was displayed. The clinician user then makes an appropriate input into the controlling test application, which also logs the position at which the target image was displayed. By displaying target graphics at multiple locations on the screen and logging the clinician inputs, the controlling test application is able to build up a plot of the peripheral vision field of the test subject. This plot can then be graphically displayed to the clinician user, and stored with the test results for future clinical use.
