Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Gerät der eingangs genannten Gattung zu schaffen, welches bei ergonomisch günstiger Handhabung und einfachem mechanischem Aufbau mittels eines Fingers betätigbar ist. Diese Aufgabe wird dadurch gelöst, daß das mechanische Getriebe aus einem an dem Gehäuse (2) schwenkbeweglich angelenkten Schubhebel (7) besteht, der mit seinem freien Ende (19,29) in die Zahnstange (14) eingreift und diese während eines Arbeitshubes (H) über einen mit der Füll-Schubachse (3) verbundenen, fingerbetätigten Schiebeknopf (6) und einem Vorsprung (24) in Richtung auf den Füllstutzen (10) verschiebt, bevor das vordere Ende (3") der Füll-Schubachse (3) die Oberkante (28) der Einmündung des Wechselmagazins (5) in den Füllstutzen (10) erreicht.

Condensing instruments are used for packing and condensing in connection with placement of dental composite resin restorative materials. These instruments are manufactured in metal or plastic material. Some composite resins however, contain hard particles and require a relatively large condensing pressure which causes abrasion of superficial fragments of prior art metal instruments. These fragments are confined in the restorative material and causes discolouration, often after oxidation. Plastic instruments quickly loose their surface finish, which may render it impossible to perform an adequate condensation. In order to provide an instrument which does not cause discolouration and which guarantees a durable function, at least one functional member (4 and/or 5) of the instrument consists of a metal alloy having a coating (6 and/or 7) of ceramic material which provides the working surface (8 and'or 9) of the functional member.

A dental device for assisting in the filling and curing of a dental restoration when used with a light guide. The dental device includes an insert member and either a conical adapter or handling means adapted to accommodate a light guide. The insert member is tapered at one end thereof has an indicator means to monitor the depth of the restoration to the pulpal floor and to provide alignment of the preparation relative to the marginal ridge of the adjacent tooth. The conical adapter has an opening at the base to accommodate the light guide and an opening at the apex to accommodate the insert member. The handling means funtions in combination with the insert member to form an instrument into which a dental light guide can be mounted and has an elongated body of triangular shape with a first and second opening at the opposite ends of the elongated body adapted to receive insert member(s) which are interchangeable for facilitating mesial and distal contact with an adjacent tooth.

Durch die Vertiefungen (9) ergibt sich eine Verringerung der Auflagefläche des Composit-Materials auf der Arbeitsfläche (33) und damit eine Verringerung des Anteils der Adhäsion, der auf physikalische Anziehungskräften, z. B. van-der-Waals-Kraft, beruhen. Sind die Vertiefungen (9) hinreichend klein, so wird allein durch die üblicherweise hohe Zähflüssigkeit von Composit-Material ein Eindringen in die Vertiefungen (9) erschwert. Können die Vertiefungen (9) zusätzlich noch durch das aufliegende Zahnersatzmaterial verschlossen werden, so bildet sich in den Vertiefungen (9) ein Luftpolster, das einem Eindringen von Zahnersatzmaterial zusätzlich entgegenwirkt.
