The present invention relates to an aqueous alkanolamine solution for the removal of hydrogen sulfide from gaseous mixtures containing hydrogen sulfide. The aqueous alkanolamine solution comprises (i) an amino compound with the formula: R1R2NCH2CH(OH)CH2OH wherein R1 and R2 independently represent lower alkyl groups of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, (ii) piperazine, and (iii) optionally a physical solvent, wherein said solution does not contain a strong acid. Further, the present invention relates to a process for removing hydrogen sulfide from a gaseous mixture containing hydrogen sulfide, and additionally other acid gases, if present, for example carbon dioxide, comprising the step of contacting the gaseous mixture contain hydrogen sulfide with the aqueous alkanolamine solution, preferably wherein the temperature of the aqueous alkanolamine solution is equal to or greater than 140° F. Examples of the gaseous mixtures include natural gas, synthesis gas, tail gas, and refinery gas.

The aminoether/water mixture can also be stored in the cold climatic zone without being externally maintained at a temperature above the inherent freezing point of the aminoether.

The remaining stream of cold, laden solution (5a) leaving the absorption device (20) is expanded by means of the relief valve (25) and via the heat exchanger (21) into a pressure relief vessel (26), such that the stream leaving the heat exchanger (21) separates into a liquid and a gaseous state, wherein the pressure in the pressure relief vessel (26) is lowered in such a way that the total energy demand in absorption and desorption processes is reduced.

Es wird ein Verfahren zur Entfernung unerwünschter gasförmiger Bestandteile aus heißen, bei der Verbrennung kohlenstoffhaltiger Brennstoffe anfallenden Rauchgasen beschrieben. Das Rauchgas (1) wird zur Abkühlung und Vorreinigung über Regeneratoren (3) geleitet und anschließend zur Absorption von S0 2 einer Wäsche (11) mit einem physikalisch wirkenden Lösungsmittel zugeführt. Das Lösungsmittel wird nach Aufnahme des SO 2 einer Regenerierung (17) unterzogen und in die Wäsche zurückgeführt. Um Energieeinsparungen zu ermöglichen, wird vorgeschlagen, das heiße Rauchgas in den Regeneratoren (3) im Wärmetausch zu atmosphärischer Luft auf Temperaturen zwischen 0 und 60°C abzukühlen und bei dieser Temperatur mit einem überwiegend aus Tetraäthylenglykoldimethyläther bestehenden Lösungsmittel zu waschen. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren gestattet eine völlige Ausnutzung der Abwärme des zu reinigenden Rauchgases.
