摘要: In embodiments of the invention, there is provided a cartridge comprising hollow fibers, in which blood flows on the exterior of the hollow fibers, and dialysate or filtrate flows on the inside. The external surfaces of the hollow fibers may have properties of smoothness and hemocompatibility. The fiber bundle may have appropriate packing fraction and may have wavy fibers. Optimum shear rates and blood velocities are identified. Geometric features of the cartridge, such as pertaining to flow distribution of the blood, may be different for different ends of the cartridge.

摘要: There is described a membrane dialysis device (100), comprising:
i) a first dialysis section (110) having:
ia) a first dialysis medium region (112),
ib) a first diffusion medium region (113), and
ic) a first membrane section (111) arranged between the first dialysis medium region (112) and the first diffusion medium region (113);
ii) a second dialysis section (120) having:
iia) a second dialysis medium region (122),
iib) a second diffusion medium region (123), and
iic) a second membrane section (121) arranged between the first dialysis medium region (122) and the second diffusion medium region (123); and
iii) a separation device (140) that spatially separates the first dialysis section (110) from the second dialysis section (120).
The first dialysis medium region (112) is hereby fluidically coupled with the second dialysis medium region (122), so that dialysis medium (101) is streamed through the first dialysis medium region (112) and then through second dialysis medium region (122).
