    摘要: A filter includes a filter chamber of adjustable volume. The filter chamber encloses a compactable filter medium through which fluid to be filtered may flow. The filter medium includes a plurality of filter particles. A filter particle has an initial shape and is deformable upon application of a deforming force, being capable of substantially regaining its initial shape upon removal of the deforming force. The porosity of the filter medium is adjustable by adjusting the volume of the filter chamber so as adjust the compaction of the filter medium.

    摘要: A radial-flow filter (120) employing nonbonded granular particles (56) for filtering impurities from an influent, and that can be backwashed by fluidizing the granular particles (56) to free the impurities therefrom. During a backwashing operation, a backwash liquid applies an upwardly-directed drag force on an upper portion of the granular particles (56) to lift the same into a backwash chamber (62) for fluidization. Once the top portion of the granular particles (56) of the filtration bed is fluidized, the backwash liquid applies an upward force on a subsequent portion of the granular bed, thereby fluidizing the granular particles (56) in the backwash chamber (62). Subsequent sections of the granular bed are fluidized in a similar manner to thereby completely clean the granular particles (56). After the backwash operation, the granular particles (56) fall back to the filtration chamber (156) and form a filter bed for carrying out a filtration operation.

    摘要: The invention relates to a device and a method for the purification of effluent. The device comprises a filter container (1A), containing a filter medium (2a, 2b), through which the contaminated effluent (3) is run in a direction (filtration direction), thus depositing dirt particles on the filter medium (2a, 2b). The risk of filter blocking is present in such filtration devices, especially at low filtration speeds. It is known that filter blockages can be avoided by the addition of flocculating agents or by increasing the filtration speed. The addition of flocculating agents makes the filter process more expensive and increasing the filtration speed reduces the quality of the filtrate. According to the invention, a high filtrate quality may be guaranteed without addition of flocculating agents with said device, whereby the cross-sectional area of the filter container (filtration area) running perpendicular to the filtration direction, expands in the filtering direction, whereupon the speed of the effluent being run through (filtration speed) continually reduces along the filtration direction.

    摘要: Contaminated liquid is passed through a resilient, lumpy porous or cellular filtering medium (17) anti-gravitationally and under pressure; the porosity of the filtering medium (17) is controlled by the pressure of the contaminated liquid. In the course of regeneration of the filtering medium (17), simultaneously and continuously contaminated liquid and compressed air are passed upwardly through filtering medium (17), the air pressure being approximately equal to that of the contaminated liquid. In this way, contaminants accumulated in the filtering medium (17) are removed by means of the compressed air and the throughflowing contaminated liquid.
    The apparatus includes a closed filter tank (13), perforated sheets (14, 15. 16) arranged perpendicularly to the direction of flow of the contaminated liquid in the closed filter tank (13) and containing therebetween a resilient, lumpy, porous or cellular filtering medium (17). At the bottom of the filter tank (13) there is an inlet (4a) for contaminated liquid and an inlet (7a) for compressed air. At the top of the filter tank (13) there is an outlet which is bifurcated to provide a discharge (6a) for filtered liquid and one (5a) for pre-filtrate which may be recycled to the inlet (4a).
