The beverage cooling device also has flux guiding device (40) by means of which the water flux (S) is deflected in such a way that water flows along essentially the entire surface of the evaporator surface (16) and substantially parallel thereto. The flux guiding device (40) can have at least one frame profile (40a, 40b) with a substantially L-shaped cross section, one of its legs (42) being oriented substantially parallel to the evaporator surface (16) while the other leg (44) is oriented substantially parallel to the bottom of the receptacle (22). The flux guiding device (40) can be configured as a double guiding frame (40a, 40b). A rotary impeller which acts at least partially as a centrifugal impeller is positioned in the housing to cause swirling of lead carrying the particles within the housing, the shape of the housing and the nature and position of the impeller being such as to ensure that lead carrying the particles is swirled against the housing wall and recirculated within the housing before the lead leaves the housing.

Both the annular gas-holding member (8) and the gas distribution arm (9) have open lower surfaces, and the gas distribution arm (9) has exhaust apertures (10) spaced along the length of the arm (9) for delivering gas from the gas-holding member (8) at different radial distances along the arm (9). The mixing assembly (4) is rotatable about the central axis of the tank (1), with which axis the annular gas-holding member (8) is concentrically located, and gas is supplied to the gas-holding member (8) by a gas delivery duct (12) having an outlet (13) disposed beneath a part of the annulus defined by the annular gas-holding member (8).
