摘要: A continuous belt casting apparatus is provided with a casting cavity, and at least one flexible metal belt having an elongated casting surface passing through and at least partially defining the casting cavity. A motor is provided for rotating the metal belt in the longitudinal direction of the casting surface whereby the casting surface passes through the casting cavity in the longitudinal direction. A molten metal supply device delivers molten metal continuously to the casting cavity, so that molten metal supplied to the casting cavity is solidified and removed as a continuous strip ingot from the casting cavity by rotation of the belt. The casting surface is provided with a plurality of grooves oriented in substantially the same direction. The invention also relates to a casting belt for such an apparatus and a method of casting using the apparatus.

摘要: A continuous casting method enabling a stable longtime casting due to a lubricating effect while preventing non-realization of lubricating effect due to short supply of lubricant and molten steel pollution and additional pouring associated with excessive supply of lubricant and for producing a thin cast piece by injecting molten metal into a pouring basin portion formed between a pair of cooling drums and a side dam and cooling molten metal by rotating circumferential surfaces of the cooling drums for solidification, the method being characterized in that casting is carried out while a solid lubricant is continuously pressed against an end surface of the cooling drum located at an upstream position of drum rotating direction entrance side of the side dam in a working temperature range by using the side dam chamfered at the drum rotating direction entrance side portion of a ceramic plate that is in sliding contact with the end surface of the cooling drum, the solid lubricant being pressed against the drum end surface at a surface pressure of 2 kgf/cm to 15 kgf/cm or a forcing speed of 0.1 to 10 mm/min for continuous supply.

摘要: Method of casting steel strip in which molten steel solidifies as a shell on a chilled casting surface (100). The casting surface (100) has a texture (101) formed by a regular pattern of surface projections (103) and depressions (102) and the steel chemistry is selected to generate in the casting pool deoxidation products which form on the casting surface (100) a layer of less than 5 microns thickness a major proportion of which is liquid during cooling of the steel to below its liquidus temperature in the formation of said solidified shell. The substantially liquid layer suppresses the formation of surface defects in the solidifying metal surface due to early deposition of solid oxides on the casting surface.

摘要: Molten metal is cast in a continuous caster (100) formed by movable mold parts travelling through casting loops (130). A plurality of cooling stages (105, 110, 115, 120, 125) are used for cooling the mold parts. A coating apparatus (140) is used to coat the movable parts and a cleaning apparatus for removing debris from the movable parts can be included in cooling stages (105, 125). Both fixed temperature sensors (170) and temperature sensors (175) embedded in the movable parts transmit data to a controller (165). Data relating to the cast quality and the condition of the casting surface are transmitted from cameras (185, 186). Based on the obtained data, the controller (165) controls the cooling stages, the coating apparatus and the cleaning apparatus.

摘要: Method and apparatus for continuously sensing and monitoring the conditions of tensed flexible endless metallic casting belts (12,14) and their insulative coatings in a continuous metal casting machine. The flatness of a casting belt (12, 14) is continuously monitored and thereby also the condition of its thermal protective coating. One or more non-contacting eddy-current sensing probes (36, 38) are placed in proximity to the reverse coolant side of a belt (12, 14) for sensing and measuring the distance of the belt from the probe to reveal irregularities in the flatness of the belt while it travels past the probe. A deficiency of insulative belt coating can cause variations in belt flatness during casting. By monitoring such variations an operator of the continuous casting machine is alerted that the coating needs to be retouched or replaced without interrupting the casting process. Or such monitoring can alert the operator that the belt (12, 14) has become inherently not flat.
