Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zur Positionierung mindestens einer von zwei Gießrollen in einem kontinuierlichen Gießverfahren zur Herstellung eines Metallbands. Die Vorrichtung und das Verfahren ermöglichen eine Anpassung bzw. Veränderung des Gießspalts zwischen den Gießrollen während des laufenden Betriebs und damit eine Einflussnahme auf die Banddicke und das Bandprofil des erzeugten Metallbands.

A method for starting continuous slab casting capable of facilitating withdrawal of a dummy bar to start smooth continuous slab casting is provided at the start of casting of continuous slab casting, where lateral side plates (2) of the mold (10) are pinched by longitudinal side plates (1) of the mold and are adjustable in the slab width direction; where the dummy bar (4) is set at a desired level at the center in a width-variable, continuous casting mold; and clearances each between lateral side plates (2) and the dummy bar (4) are adjusted to 1 - 3 mm, while maintaining the lateral side plates (2) vertically, then sealing materials (5) are filled into the clearances; then molten steel is poured into the mold; and then the top ends of the lateral side plates (2) are made more apart outwardly, thereby giving a downwardly tapered profile to the lateral side plates (2), when no more poured molten steel is passed into the clearance between the formed solidified shell (6a) and the plates (1) and (2), while withdrawing the dummy bar (4) downwardly; whereby the continuous slab casting is conducted.

A continuous casting apparatus and method is disclosed for casting a metal strip with a cross sectional form which varies along the length of the strip. The apparatus comprises: opposing cooling means; a molten metal feed system positionable to provide a molten metal feed for solidification between the opposing cooling means to form a solidified metal strip along a length direction; and a form adjustment system. The form adjustment system comprises at least one dam to determine, at least in part, the cross sectional form of the molten metal feed to the opposing cooling means. In this way, it is possible to determine the cross sectional form of the solidified metal strip. The dam is moveable during operation of the apparatus to vary the cross sectional form of the molten metal feed to the opposing cooling means. The apparatus further comprises a molten metal pressure control system, operable to control the pressure of the molten metal in the molten metal feed during operation of the apparatus in coordination with movement of the dam.

The opening is formed in such a manner that a size of the opening on a top surface of the shape defining member is larger than that on a bottom surface of the shape defining member. With this configuration, a cast-metal article having excellent surface quality can be produced even when molten metal is drawn up in an oblique direction.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Gießen eines Stranges mit einer Breite b und einer Dicke d und eine Vorrichtung zum Ausführen des beanspruchten Verfahrens, wobei ein Volumenstroms V̇ an flüssigem Metall als Istwert V̇ I s t mittels eines Durchflusssensors gemessen wird. Auch wird die Gießspiegelhöhe h des flüssigen Metalls in der Stranggießkokille gemessen. Zur Optimierung der Einstellung der Breite des Strangs wird erfindungsgemäß vorgeschlagen, dass eine Breitenkorrektur Δb in Abhängigkeit einer ermittelten Volumenstromregeldifferenz berechnet wird und als Stellgröße an ein erstes Stellglied zum Verstellen mindestens einer Schmalseite der Stranggießkokille ausgegeben wird. Weiterhin wird eine Höhenänderung Δh der Gießspiegelhöhe h in Abhängigkeit der Breitenkorrektur Δb berechnet. Gießspiegelhöhe h und Volumenstrom V̇ werden durch Ansteuern eines Verschlusselements geregelt.
