A hybrid welding system is provided. In one embodiment, the welding system includes an engine-driven generator, an energy storage device, a contactor, and a controller. The controller may be configured to control delivery of weld power from the generator when a commanded output is below a threshold level, and from both the generator and the energy storage when the commanded output is above the threshold level. Closing of the contactor enables the energy storage device to contribute to weld power during welding operations and to be charged by the generator output independent of charging between weld operations. Additional hybrid welding systems and methods are also disclosed.

A system in accordance with an example implementation of this disclosure comprises welding headwear to be worn by a welder during a live welding operation, the headwear comprising: a camera operable to capture an image of a live welding operation; circuitry operable to analyze the captured image to determine a characteristic of the live welding operation, and associate the characteristic with the captured image; and memory operable to store the captured image and the associated characteristic for later retrieval. The headwear may comprise a communication interface operable to communicate with a remote server. The determined characteristic may comprise a welding parameter of a welding torch in the captured image. The determined characteristic may comprise a setting, or measured output, of welding equipment that powers and/or feeds wire to a torch being used in the live welding operation.

A welding torch receives the welding power and applies it to a stick electrode to initiate and maintain a welding arc. A parameter of the welding power, such as voltage, is monitored, such as to determine whether spikes occur during a short time after arc initiation. Based upon the monitored parameter, the engine speed is controlled. The engine speed may be increased or maintained at an elevated level if the monitored parameter indicates that particular types of electrode are being used, such as XX10 or cellulose electrodes.

Example interface devices include a process selection input device, a display device, a memory, and a processor. The memory stores weld connection setup graphics and physical welding connections. Each of the plurality of weld connection setup graphics is a graphic of a perspective view of a power supply. The processor, in response to identifying a selected welding process type via the welding process selection input device, displays one of the plurality of the weld connection setup graphics via the display device. The processor detects a physical welding connection made at the power supply, determines, based on the detected physical welding connection, that the detected physical welding connection is incorrect for the selected welding process type, and displays an alert on the display device to indicate an error in the detected physical welding connection.

The horizontal butt joint high deposition welding apparatus is installed on a traveling device part in a welding direction by a welding tip so as to move in a forward direction of welding progress and a horizontal butt joint high deposition welding method, thereby preventing the molten metal from running down, allowing a user to easily handle the apparatus, reducing weight, and completing surface beads because a lower part is filled with molten metal.
