A machine (10) is described for manufacturing buttons comprising a base (12); a container device (14), supported on the base (12), capable of containing a plurality of disc-shaped elements (100) to be machined on the machine (10); un supplying device (16), operatively connected to the container device (14), capable of selectively supplying, by fall through a channel, a single disc-shaped element (100) at a time to a clamp gripping device (18); a clamp gripping device (18), fixed to the base (12), provided with two opposite and coaxial gripping shafts (22, 24), which block the disc-shaped element (100) by pressure, acting onto its two opposite and parallel surfaces, and set it into rotation; and a machining device (20), fixed to the base (12) and arranged adjacent to the clamp gripping device (18), capable of machining the outer circumferential edge of the disc-shaped element (100) held and made to rotate by such a clamp gripping device (18). The clamp gripping device (18) is provided with a self-centering positioning system (52) of the disc- shaped elements (100), arranged below the supplying device (16) and capable of positioning each disc-shaped element (100), independently from its outer diameter, substantially coaxially with respect to the opposite gripping shafts (22, 24) of the clamp gripping device (18).

Provided is a device for polishing a slide fastener element, the polishing device being capable of high-efficiency polishing with the fastener element in a stable orientation, and without reducing the quality of the polished product. This polishing device is provided with: a transport path for the slide fastener (S); a support part (3, 3a, 13) disposed along the transport path and disposed opposite either the rear surface or the front surface of a fastener element (E) so as to support the orientation of the fastener element (E); and a polishing part (2, 2a, 2b) on either side of the transport path, disposed opposing the support part (3, 3a, 13). The polishing part (2, 2a, 2b) has a rotation shaft (22) and a polishing member (25) secured to the rotation shaft (22) and capable of rotating by means of the rotation of the rotation shaft. The polishing member (25) contacts and polishes either the front surface or the back surface of the fastener element (E). The rotation shaft (22) of the polishing member (25) extends parallel to the direction perpendicular to the support part (3, 3a, 13).
