    摘要： An explosively operated tool includes a ram and an anvil. The ram (22) is driven towards the anvil (20) by ignition of a cartridge. A crusher sleeve is provided on the ram (22) such that, in the event the ram is driven towards the anvil (20) without a member or members therebetween, by an accidental discharge of the tool, the crusher sleeve (50) can deform to thereby absorb kinetic energy from the ram (22) and safely render the tool inoperative.

    摘要： A power booster bushing (14) for obturating powder gases in a cartridge case (10) employed by power actuated tools used for connecting power cables. The power booster bushing (14) supports an explosive power cell (12) and is slidably positioned in the cartridge case (14) bore (27) and has a series of ribs (62) defined by grooves (60) engaging the cartridge case bore (27). The interface between the cartridge case bore (27) and the bushing (14) is sealed during detonation of the power cell by means of the circumferential ribs (62). The bushing (14) undergoes an "accordion effect" during detonation characterized by axial compression of the bushing (14) and resulting in the prevention of powder gas escape through the open breech end (24) of the cartridge case (10).

First and second pistons 71, 81 are movably disposed in the first and second cylinders 7,8, respectively, and a bit 9 extends from the first piston 71. A rod 14 formed with a rack 14A extends from the second piston 72. The rack 14A is engageable with a motion conversion mechanism 6 for converting a linear motion of the rod 14 into rotational motion of the bit 9.

    摘要： A tool for securing a connector on a conductor using an explosive charge includes a first tool member and a second tool member movably mounted on the first tool member.
