摘要:

Disclosed is a method for the continuous impregnation of wood elements, such as wood chips. The method comprises the subsequent steps of subjecting the wood elements to vacuum, to contact with acetylation fluid, and to impregnation pressure. Preferably, the process is conducted in a plant having conveyors, such as transportation screws, in suitable positions between the zones in which the subsequent process steps are conducted. The impregnation method is used in connection with the acetylation of the wood elements, and preferably is followed by a continuous acetylation process conducted in an acetylation reaction zone downstream of the zone where the impregnation is conducted.

Wood such as spruce, maple, and hornbeam are retained in high pressure steam of pressure 0.2 to 1.6 MPa at 120 to 200°C for 1 to 60 minutes, and subsequently, cooled and dried to obtain a modified wood having superior acoustic properties and old wood-like appearance due to a change to a deep color tone. Since the conventional modification methods by chemical treatment using chemicals such as resorcin and formaldehyde are not used, the treatment steps are simple and a modified wood used as a material for musical instruments is obtained at low cost.

The present invention implements a method to produce stained oak, having features identical or very close to a bog (black) oak wood found in wetlands. This method is based on the reaction of iron with the tannin present in the wood, and it comprises the following steps: placing the wood blank into a metal container; filling the container with water (or other suitable solvent), so that all the blanks are submersed; blending iron oxide into the solvent and producing the solution of iron oxide of a suitable concentration; heating the container to the desired temperature between 60 to 100 degrees Celsius; maintaining the temperature of the container for a certain period of time, depending on the dimensions of the blanks; compensating the water that was lost during the process due to evaporation by adding an additional amount of water; after the determined period of time or when the desired shade of wood (black, gray, blue, purple, or brown) is achieved and / or the desired density is reached, stopping the heating process and discharging the water from the tank; washing the blanks; drying the blanks in sawdust or using other desiccation means; drying the blanks in convection or vacuum dryer, or using other similar means, until a needed moisture content is reached.

Method for the artificial ageing of wood materials and the like which envisages, in sequence, the steps of taking, in a predetermined first time interval (h 1 ), the piece of wood material to be treated to a first reference temperature (T 1 ) higher than 100°C, while the same piece of wood material is brushed on by hot air; then maintaining for a predetermined second time interval (h 2 ) the piece of wood material to be treated in contact with hot and humid air at a predetermined second reference temperature (T 2 ) and at a pressure (P 2 ) higher than ambient pressure; and finally of taking, in a predetermined third time interval (h 3 ), the piece of wood material to be treated again to ambient temperature; the hot and humid air at the second reference temperature (T 2 ) being vapour-saturated air.
