The system has an apparatus configured to supply the moulds and carry out the pre-mould-release of the products contained within such moulds. The apparatus has a first conveyor belt associated with a first pre-mould-release group and a second conveyor belt associated with a second pre-mould-release group. The second conveyor belt is placed downstream of the first conveyor belt and both pre-mould-release groups are configured to facilitate the subsequent mould-release of the products. The system further has a mould-release machine arranged downstream with respect to the first and second conveyor belts. The mould-release machine has a mould-release group, configured to carry out the extraction of the products from the respective moulds, and a plurality of conveyor belts, configured to move the moulds and the products inside the mould-release machine.

The method includes providing a rigid mould (8, 150) with at a re-entrant cavity (96, 196). Mouldable material is provided on the rigid mould and the re-entrant cavity is filled to form a hook-like protuberance (36) on a surface of the moulded building product to facilitate, in use, the attachment of the building product to the structure of a building. The mouldable material sets to form a building product. The building product is removed from the mould. The re-entrant cavity has a resilient portion to facilitate the removal of the building product without detrimental affect to the hook-like protuberance. The so-formed building products have a greater resistance to inclement weather conditions. The building product may be a concrete roof tile formed by a roller and slipper extrusion method, a clay tile made by pressing in a clay tile press, or a cast concrete roof tile.

For use in manufacturing concrete building products in polyurethane moulds, a demoulding apparatus provides a clamping bar which clamps on to a lip of a mould (22) and is then moved with pivotal arms (32, 34) forward and upwardly to effectively strip the edge of the mould (22) from the front end of the respective product (24). The reciprocating mould (22) passes below a roller (66) which moves into engagement with the upper surface of the mould (22) to apply a downwardly directed pressure onto the mould and product, thereby to retain the product (24) on a conveyor (12) and rollers (68), and facilitate stripping of the mould (22) from the product (24). The stripped product (24) moves onto an offtake conveyor (70) and, in the uppermost position of the arm (32, 34), the clamping jaws are released to allow the stripped mould (22) to thereafter fall onto the conveyor (70).
