The present invention provides a hollow body molding device which allows easy confirmation of passage of a floating core through a molded body and facilitates quality control at the site. The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a pipe with a branch, which utilizes the conventional pipe molding method using a floating core, and while taking advantage of the pipe molding method, various types of pipes with a branch can be integrally molded with a synthetic resin with high efficiency. The method comprises injecting a molten resin into a main cavity 4, which has on its one end a pressure port 2 provided with a floating core 1 and on its other end a first outlet 3, and a branch cavity 5, which communicates with the main cavity 4 and has on its end a second outlet 6 allowed to open and close, pressure-injecting a pressurized fluid through the pressure port 2 after the injection of the molten resin, and moving the floating core 1 to the first outlet 3 side, and, at the same time, extruding the molten resin from the first outlet 3 to form a main pipe hollow, and opening the second outlet 6 after the main pipe hollow reaches a portion at which the branch cavity 5 communicates with the main cavity 4, and extruding the molten resin by the pressurized fluid from the second outlet 6 to form the branch pipe hollow.

A hollow molded article is obtained by molding a thermoplastic polyester composition comprising a blend of reinforcing fiber glass, polybutylene terephthalate with a melting point of 210 to 230° C. and polyethylene terephthalate with a melting point of 240 to 260° C., wherein at least 10% of the outer surface of the article has a continuous glossy region with a gloss of at least 75 gloss units, as measured at 60 degrees in accordance with ASTM D523 and wherein the gloss varies from the average less than 10 gloss units in the glossy region. A gas-assisted injection molding process is also disclosed for making such hollow molded articles, which articles can have various uses, including handles for appliances or the like.

Said device is provided with: a first mold, which is fixed in place; a second mold that has, on a cavity mold surface, a transfer surface for transferring an optical surface to a molten resin injected into the cavity; a nozzle for injecting a fluid under pressure into the molten resin injected into the cavity, thereby forming a void inside said molten resin; and an ejector pin that is provided in the second mold, protruding from the mold surface thereof, to release a base material from the mold surface. The nozzle is provided on a part of the cavity mold surface other than the transfer surface of the second mold and has a tip formed so as to protrude from the mold surface into the cavity. The ejector pin protrudes at a position between a position corresponding to the tip of the base material nozzle and the end of the aforementioned optical surface on the side on which the tip of the nozzle is disposed.

The present invention provides a thin container production method capable of forming a thin container having a thickness of about 0.7 mm by injecting a molten resin of a polylactic acid into a narrow cavity. The production method according to the present invention produces a thin container W having a thickness in a range of 0.3 to 0.7 mm by injection molding of a polylactic acid resin.
