There is provided a leader tape(5) which is capable of preventing breakage of a tape body(11) when the tape body(11) is pulled out, and a tape cartridge(1) incorporating the leader tape(5). A leader tape(5) includes a tape body(11) having one end fixed to a tape(4), for enabling the tape(4) to be pulled out of a cartridge body(2), and a pin member(12) attached to the tape body(11), for pulling out the tape(4) therewith. The tape body(11) has a portion on a side of another end opposite to the one end, the portion being folded such that the folded portion surrounds the periphery of the pin member(12) and that the folded portion has a leading end portion(11b) thereof welded to a tape surface of the tape body(11) opposed to the folded portion. The welding is effected non-densely in at least one of a pin member-side boundary portion(S1a) of a welded area(W1) where the leading end portion and the tape surface opposed thereto are welded to each other and a one end-side boundary portion(S1b) of the welded area (W1).

The invention relates to a method and devices for the partial disassembly of cassettes with at least one sealing cap. The sealing cap is separated early on from the cassette or from the cassette housing even before, during or shortly after opening of the cassette. A plurality of methods and of examples of the devices are given. The methods and devices for separation can be used advantageously for all cassettes with one or a plurality of sealing caps, and they may be used for any type of audio, video and data cassettes.

The description relates to an improved extrusion moulder with at least two moulding slots to apply one or more magnetisable coatings to a flexible non-magnetic substrate. Here, the upper lip of the outlet aperture is further back than the lower lip and in addition, opposite the outlet aperture for the dispersions from the extrusion moulder and on the other side of the substrate there is the edge of a parallelepiped magnet having a gradient towards the extrusion slot greater than 400 A/cm, thus producing a stabilised liquid support. It is thus possible to cast very thin coatings and to make the meniscus insensitive to disruptive forces. To reduce the edge bead a doctor blade (13) is fitted on both casting edges which is extended over the region of the upper or lower lip of the extrusion moulder towards the material web (1) to which the coating is applied, a minimum distance of 0.05 to 0.8 mm being set between the surface (19) of the doctor blade (13) and the coated material web.

The present invention is a biaxially oriented polyester film having a ratio of Young's modulus in the transverse direction to Young's modulus in the machine direction of 1.5 to 3, an average value of refractive indices in the machine direction, in the transverse direction, and in the thickness direction of 1.590 to 1.680, a minor melting peak temperature of 160 to 190°C, and a coefficient of hygroscopic expansion in the transverse direction of 0 to 6 ppm/% RH. The present invention provides a biaxially oriented polyester film that, when used as a magnetic recording medium, undergoes little dimensional change due to environmental changes and has excellent storage stability and good slittability, film forming ability, and processing suitability.
