A packaging box is disclosed, able to have smoothly curved wall portions. The box includes a perimeter wall defining a void thereby. The perimeter wall includes a first fold line and a second fold line. The first fold line and the second fold line may be parallel. A distance around the perimeter wall from the first fold line to the second fold line measured in a first plane perpendicular to the first and second fold lines in a first rotational sense is the same as a distance around the perimeter wall from the first fold line to the second fold line in the first plane in a second rotational sense opposite to the first rotational sense. When the first fold line is fully unfolded, the perimeter has a continuous surface including the first fold line. A tube, blank, method and machine for forming the box are also disclosed.

A machine is provided for forming three-dimensional cardboard boxes starting from a blank (3) folded flat. The machine has a supporting frame (1) which includes a magazine (2) containing a plurality of flat blanks (3). The machine has means (4 and 5) for taking one blank at a time from said magazine, means (21, 22) for opening said blank, means (37) for closing the lower smaller flaps (38 and 39) of the blank, means (64, 67) for closing the lower larger flaps (60 and 61) and means (20) for ejecting a formed box. The closing means (37) for the lower smaller flaps (38 and 39) are activated virtually simultaneously with the opening means (21, 22) of the blank in such a manner as to prevent interference by the abovesaid smaller flaps with the adjacent larger flaps and thus facilitate closing of said smaller flaps. The opening means (21, 22) rotate around pins (26, 33) each located at a corner of a box to be formed. Means (45, 47, 49, 50, 52, 53) are provided to adjust the position of at least one (26) of said rotation pins. Retractable suction cup members make up said opening means (21, 22).
