Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren und die entsprechende Vorrichtung zum Übertragen von Farbe, Lack oder Kleber beim Kaschieren und Drucken, insbesondere Flexodrucken, arbeitet mit einer Walze, die als Glattwalze (1) und nicht als Rasterwalze ausgebildet ist. Das Material, z.B. Farbe, wird durch Sprühen auf die Glattwalze 1 mit Hilfe von Sprühmodulen (2) übertragen, die in Achsrichtung der Glattwalze nebeneinander angeordnet und einzeln hinsichtlich Intensität und Menge ansteuerbar sind. Hierdurch ist es möglich, nur einzelne zylindrische Teilabschnitte der Glattwalze gar nicht oder unterschiedlich mit Material zu versehen, sondern es wird auch erheblich an Material und an Trocknungsenergie eingespart. Eine Entfernung abgetrockneten Materials ist durch ein Rakel erst nach der Übertragung vorgesehen.
