A plate clamping assembly for a duplicating machine utilizes a pivoted or cantilevered beam (22) in the leading edge plate clamp assembly (16) and a calibrated cocking screw (42) to enable skewing of the plate on the plate cylinder (40) by moving one end of the pivoted or cantilevered beam (22). The assembly also coordinates the leading (16) and trailing (18) edge plate clamp assemblies during installation of the plate by automatically adjusting the trailing edge plate clamp assembly (18) to accommodate for an adjustment in skewing of the leading edge of the plate by the leading edge plate clamp assembly (16) through, for example, a bell crank link (23). It also utilizes spring assemblies to enable self-adjustment for different plate thicknesses.
