摘要: To provide a seat belt retractor (1) which is constructed in a compact form and which achieves two winding performances, i.e. winding a belt rapidly and winding the belt with high torque, with reduced power consumption of a motor (6) and by simplified control of the motor (6), the rotation of a motor (6) in the belt winding direction move a clutch gear (31) and a rotary shaft (32) along an arc-shape guide hole (11g). When belt tension is small, the rotary shaft (32) comes in contact with a clutch arm (33) and then the clutch gear (31) and the carrier gear (17) are meshed with each other so as to establish a high-speed and low-torque power transmission passage. When the belt tension is large, the rotary shaft (32) comes in contact with the clutch arm (33) and, after that, the rotary shaft (32) further moves the clutch arm (33) to pivot. A clutch pawl (34) pivots and engages with one of the ratchet teeth (19b) to stop the rotation of an internal gear (19a) so that the clutch gear (31) become out of mesh with the carrier gear (17), thereby establishing a low-speed and high-torque power transmission passage.

摘要: The seat belt module is electronically controlled using magneto-rheological fluid. A CPU delivers a signal to an electromagnetic coil within the module at the beginning of a crash to cause the viscosity of the magneto-rheological fluid to increase sufficient to lock the spool on which the seat belt is wound against rotation. Thereafter, a subsequent signal is delivered by the CPU to the coil to reduce the magnetic field and the viscosity of the magneto-rheological fluid allowing the spool to be unwound in a programmed manner so as to reduce the forces imposed on an occupant by the seat belt. The CPU may be pre-programmed in response to signals from sensors throughout the vehicle that deliver signals corresponding to the characteristics of the occupant and may be programmed in response to signals from these sensors and from an air bag to respond in real time.

摘要: The entire amount of seatbelt webbing can be securely wound even when a winding force of a spring cannot be efficiently utilized. When a belt winding speed of a spool (4) by spring means (14) is larger than a predetermined value, a winding speed V S , which is input in a motor-power transmission device (5) from the spool (4), is larger than a winding speed V M , which is input in the motor-power transmission device (5) from a motor (10) (V S > V M ). At this time, the motor-power transmission device (5) is turned off so that the winding of the seatbelt webbing (3) is performed by the spring means (14). When the belt winding speed of the spool (4) by the spring means (14) is not more than the predetermined value so as to be V M > V S , the motor-power transmission device (5) is turned on so that the winding of the seatbelt webbing (3) is performed by power of the motor (10). Even when a winding force of the spring cannot be efficiently utilized, the entire amount of seatbelt webbing can be securely wound by power of the motor (10).
