The high pressure chamber (9) may optionally be placed under a higher pressure than the low pressure chamber (10), by means of a compressed air or a vacuum, in order to move the piston (5) in a first direction, causing the wiper arm (20) to lift away from the window (23). In the low pressure chamber (10) there is provided a return spring (12) which is designed to return the piston (5) in a second, opposite direction to allow the wiper arm (20) to move toward the window (23) when the pressure difference between the high pressure chamber (9) and the low pressure chamber (10) is annulled. The invention is characterised in that the load alleviation means comprise at least two interspaced pins arranged on the carrier element, and ramps (9) which co-operate with said pins (8) and which are provided on the window (17) or in the region around the window. In the parking position, the pins (8) drive against the ramps in order to alleviate the wiper lip.

Wesentlich dabei ist, daß als Abstützklotz mindestens ein loser, von Hand zwischen Windschutzscheibe und Blatthalter einlegbarer Abstützbock (1) vorgesehen ist, der an seiner Oberseite mindestens einen horizontal bzw. parallel zur Auflageseite (3) herausragenden Abstützarm (4) zum Untergreifen des Blatthalters aufweist. Dabei ist der Abstand zwischen Oberseite des Abstützarmes (4) und Auflageseite (3) so gewählt, daß das Gummiblatt des Scheibenwischers so weit abgehoben ist, daß es die Unterlage nicht berührt. Dadurch wird ein Anfrieren bei Kälte und Ankleben bei Hitze des Scheibenwischergummis vermieden und so die Lebensdauer verlängert.
