摘要:
A hydraulic power steering apparatus for a vehicle is provided with a main control valve in which a valve opening degree is controlled on the basis of a relative movement between an input shaft interlocking with a steering wheel and an output shaft interlocking with a steering mechanism for turning a steered wheel, a power cylinder mechanism generating a steering assist force, a pump apparatus discharging a fixed flow amount of working oil, a first flow passage including a supply passage communicated with the main control valve, and a control unit controlling an assist control valve. The main control valve controls a supply amount of the working oil in the first flow passage to the power steering apparatus, and the assist control valve controlling a flow amount of a part of the working oil discharged from the pump apparatus 1 is controlled to a set valve opening degree set on the basis of a vehicle speed and an oil pressure of the working oil in the first flow passage, by the control unit.

A hydraulic fluid control valve (18) for a power steering gear (10) includes first and second relatively rotatable valve members (60, 62) which direct hydraulic fluid to flow between the valve members (60, 62) from inlet ports (70) to outlet ports (92). The valve members (60, 62) have radially opposed lands (71-79, 101-109) and grooves (81-89, 121-129) defining orifices (130) that enlarge and orifices (130) that constrict upon relative rotation of the valve members (60, 62) from neutral positions. A pair of the constricting orifices (130b, 130c) are located in parallel between the inlet ports (90) and the outlet ports(92). Each of those parallel constricting orifices (130b, 130c) is defined by a corresponding chamfered corner portion of a corresponding land (101, 102). The valve members (60, 62) provide back pressure at selected orifices between the outlet ports (92) and the inlet ports (90). The selected orifices include both constricting orifices (130b, 130c). The means for providing back pressure comprises a third land (102) which is spaced from the pair of lands. The third land (102) defines a third orifice (130d) located in series with the parallel constricting orifices. The third orifice (130d) has a constant size for all relative positions of the first and second valve members (60, 62) through the range of movement of the valve.

A hydraulic fluid control valve (18) includes first and second valve members (60, 62) which are rotatable relative to each other about an axis (23). The valve members (60, 62) define hydraulic fluid flow orifices (110) which are spaced apart circumferentially about the axis (23). The orifices (110) are variable in size such that an orifice (110a) enlarges when a pair of adjacent orifices (110b and 110c) constrict upon relative rotation of the valve members from neutral positions. The pair of constricting orifices (110b, 110c) initially constrict at unequal rates, and subsequently constrict at equal rates until reaching fully constricted conditions.

A valve (10) for controlling flow of hydraulic fluid. The valve (10) has first and second valve members (80, 82) which have a plurality of lands and grooves. The valve members (80, 82) are relatively movable from a neutral position to a displaced position in which surface segments (202, 226, 208, 218) of respective pairs of lands overlap to form flow gaps (232, 234) for restricting flow of fluid between respective pairs of grooves. At least one (234) of the flow gaps is divergent by having a cross-sectional flow area which increases along a direction of fluid flow and at least one (232) of the flow gaps is convergent by having a cross-sectional flow area which decreases along a direction of fluid flow. The flow gaps (232, 234) have minimum cross-sectional flow areas (A, B) defined by the surface segments. The flow gaps (232, 234) are sized such that the minimum cross-sectional flow area (A) of the convergent flow gap (232) is larger than the minimum cross-sectional flow area (B) of the divergent flow gap (234) for suppressing valve noise.
