摘要:
A parafoil system having an adjustable trim angle during flight to control glide slope and descent speed of a parafoil is provided. The parafoil system may include a pulley cluster comprising first and second variable trim pulleys, each having a different diameter. The pulley cluster may be coupled to forward and aft suspension lines of a parafoil canopy such that the pulley cluster may rotate to retract or extend the forward and aft suspension lines to adjust the trim angle during flight. The parafoil system may further include a motor for rotating the pulley cluster to extend or retract the suspension lines to adjust the trim angle during flight. By adjusting the trim angle of the canopy during flight, the glide slope and descent speed of the parafoil system may be controlled.

Embodiments described herein may help to provide medical support via a fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). An illustrative UAV may include a housing, a payload, a line-deployment mechanism coupled to the housing and a line, and a payload-release mechanism that couples the line to the payload, wherein the payload-release mechanism is configured to release the payload from the line. The UAV may further include a control system configured to determine that the UAV is located at or near a delivery location and responsively: operate the line-deployment mechanism according to a variable deployment-rate profile to lower the payload to or near to the ground, determine that the payload is touching or is within a threshold distance from the ground, and responsively operate the payload-release mechanism to release the payload from the line.

Disclosed is a coaxial two-layered parachute (10) comprising an inner layer of inflation sac body (20) and an outer layer of parachute cover (30) provided on a coaxial centreline, and a bearing article (T) connected below the inner layer of inflation sac body (20) and the outer layer of parachute cover (30), wherein helium gas is pre-filled inside the inner layer of inflation sac body (20) and generates a buoyancy (F), such that the inner layer of inflation sac body (20) floats upwards to a suitable height due to the internal buoyancy (F), and when the inner layer of inflation sac body (20) floats upwards to a suitable height and when the bearing article (T) connected below the inner layer of inflation sac body (20) and the outer layer of parachute cover (30) falls, taking advantage of an upward current of outside air, the air current enters an inflation space (31) through an air inlet of the outer layer of parachute cover (30) to form another buoyancy (F1), resulting in a completely open parachute state due to the air current entering the inside of the inflation space (31) of the outer layer of parachute cover (30).

An aircraft store ejector systems and subsystems thereof. Embodiments can include a two-reservoir re-pressurization system wherein a remote reservoir is used to maintain desired pressure in a local ejector reservoir. The system can include a release valve having a vent valve and valve piston. The release valve can control release of pressurized gas to a pitch control valve. The pitch control valve can be configured to distribute the pressurized gas between two or more ejector piston assemblies. One or more of the ejector piston assemblies can include multiple concentric piston stages and piston chambers, the piston chambers configured to contain a volume of gas. The ejector piston assemblies can be configured to compress the volume of gas within the piston chambers as the piston stages are extended out from the aircraft. Such compression can provide a return force to the piston stages.

A fragile substance storage transportation and release device comprises a frame for inserting cartridges to hold the fragile substance; a propulsion unit for propelling the fragile substance out of successive cartridges, cartridge by cartridge; and an opening mechanism for opening each cartridge one by one in coordination with a propulsion mechanism. The device is useful for distribution of fragile insects such as mosquitoes and there is a mechanism for automatic collection of insects from pupae.

Methods and apparatus for destabilizing and reducing the strength and even destroying tornadoes are disclosed. Rather than overpowering a tornado, tornado vulnerabilities in stability maintenance are identified and turned against the tornado. Embodiments include attacking tornado vulnerabilities chemically without the use of explosives. Selected chemicals are introduced into a tornado adjacent to the wall of the funnel, advantageously above the height of entrained debris, to reduce the transmission of local angular velocity of the funnel toward the earth and to attack the local generation of energy from the tornado's air/water mixture.
