There is provided a guide mechanism of an anchor chain for conveying ladles, which can prevent an anchor chain from being twisted or sagged and can transmit motive power to the anchor chain reliably and efficiently. A linear anchor chain guide 30 is provided in a motive power transmission region where the motive power is transmitted from a conveyer chain 21 to the anchor chain 10, and the anchor chain 10 is introduced and guided to the anchor chain guide 30. The guide side parts 32 in the left and right guide half members 31, 31 constituting the anchor chain guide 30 can limit a leftward or rightward movement of the anchor chain 10. The guide upper parts 33 can limit an upward movement of the anchor chain 10. A downward stopper 13 placed at the upper end of each vertical unit ring 11 of the anchor chain 10 cannot pass downwardly through the clearance 34 set between the guide upper parts 33, 33 of the left and right guide half members31, 31, so a downward movement of the anchor chain 10 can be limited. In the motive power transmission region, a conveyer chain guide 40 is also provided for preventing the conveyer chain 21 from floating and the like.

Plastic modular link belt conveyors are provided with an inner drive belt system (22) disposed along a variable length of the conveyor belt (Fig.5) at one or more positions (53, 54) to produce various advantages including operation of longer belts and those which have curved conveyance paths. The modular characteristics of these drive systems permit custom design in the field for different conveyor loadings, paths and loads. Thus, belt life and performance is enhanced by driving a belt with a belt drive system. The system advantageously uses standard modules of one type (18) in both the driven and driving belts. Thus the modules have similar manufacturing tolerances and temperature characteristics. Pivoted link modules with oblong apertures (19) in the belt drive system permits choices of modules for belt constructions compatible with curved paths. The modularized belt systems are versatile for adaption to such applications as wide bricklayered modular belts and non-conventional conveyor needs. In the drive system integrally formed gear teeth on the modular links intermesh in the space between the transverse pivot rods in the respective innermost driving belt and the outermost driven belt. By running the inner drive belt (22) "inside-out" modular links with drive tooth appendages extending from opposite belt sides, standard modules of the type having special conveyance structure (16) on the conveying belt side may be used in the driving belt.

A positive displacement sorter includes a plurality of interconnected parallel slats defining an endless web that travels in a longitudinal direction. The web has upper and lower runs and transition sections between the runs. An upper surface of the upper run of the web defining an article-conveying surface. A plurality of pusher shoes travels along the slats in order to divert articles on the conveying surface. Each shoe has a diverting member extending below the conveying surface. A plurality of diverting rails below the conveying surface may engage the diverting member to cause the associated shoe to travel to divert an article. A plurality of diverters diverts a diverting member from a non-diverting path extending longitudinally along the sorter to one of the diverting rails in a diverting state. A propulsion system propels the web and includes at least one drive assembly engaging a surface of a run.
