摘要: A seal system 60 comprising a ceramic component 62 having a surface region 70 defining a first surface roughness, a metallic component 64 situated adjacent the surface region, and a coating system 71 disposed on the surface region 70. The coating system 71 includes a silicon-containing layer 66 on the surface region and a barrier layer 68 on the silicon-containing layer. The silicon-containing layer 66 has a surface in contact with the barrier layer 68. The barrier layer 68 has a surface in contact with the metallic component 64. The surface of the barrier layer 68 has a second surface roughness that is less than the first surface roughness. The barrier layer 68 limits interaction between silicon of the silicon-containing layer 66 and elements of the metallic component 64. The barrier layer 68 has a coefficient of thermal expansion that is within about 60% of a coefficient of thermal expansion of the ceramic component 62. A gas turbine engine and a method are also disclosed.

The coated component includes a ceramic substrate having a Si-treated layer surrounding a ceramic core and an environmental barrier coating on the Si-treated layer of the ceramic substrate. The ceramic core includes silicon carbide, and the Si-treated layer is pretreated to tailor its surface's properties for inhibiting or delaying the formation of carbon oxides to upon exposure of the Si-treated layer to oxygen.

The inter-sector surfaces (20) are coated with an environmental barrier (22) doped by an electrically conductive compound and having at least one slot (24). The invention also relates to a turbine shroud sector, and a turbine engine comprising such a shroud sector, as well as a method for manufacturing a shroud sector.

摘要: A method of depositing abradable coating on an engine component is provided wherein the engine component is formed of ceramic matrix composite (CMC) and one or more layers, including at least one environmental barrier coating, may be disposed on the outer layer of the CMC. An outermost layer of the structure may further comprise a porous abradable layer that is disposed on the environmental barrier coating and provides a breakable structure which inhibits blade damage. The abradable layer may be gel-cast on the component and sintered or may be direct written by extrusion process and subsequently sintered.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a method for coating a composite structure, comprising forming a first slurry by combining a first pre-slurry composition comprising a first phosphate glass composition, with a primary flow modifier and a first carrier fluid, wherein the primary flow modifier comprises at least one of cellulose or calcium silicate; applying the first slurry on a surface of the composite structure to form a base layer; and heating the composite structure to a temperature sufficient to adhere the base layer to the composite structure. Also disclosed is a slurry for coating a composite structure and an article comprising the composite structure.

摘要: An environmental barrier coating system (14), a method of application and an article (10) formed thereby suitable for reducing creep by incorporation of doping materials in grain boundaries of a bond coat layer (16) to inhibit creep displacement of the EBC system (14) when subjected to shear loading at elevated temperatures. The EBC system (14) includes the bond coat layer (16) on a silicon-containing substrate (12) and at least one ceramic layer (18,20,22) on the bond coat layer (16). The bond coat layer (16) includes silicon and at least one doping material that includes a creep-resistant element. The doping material is located at grain boundaries within the bond coat layer in sufficient size and quantity to improve the creep resistance of the bond coat layer.
