摘要: This invention relates to a lubricating oil composition comprising or resulting from the admixing of: a) 50 to 99 mass% of one or more base oils; b) 0.1 to 15 mass% of one or more functionalized olefin copolymer having an Mn of from 10,000 to 35,000 g/mol; c) 0.1 to 20 mass% of one or more detergents wherein the detergent comprises at least one calcium detergent having a TBN of more than 100 mg KOH/g; at least one calcium detergent having a TBN of 100 mg KOH/g or less; and at least one magnesium detergent, where the difference in the TBN's for the Ca detergents is at least 100 mg KOH/g; d) 0.01 to 40 mass% of one or more dispersants wherein the dispersants comprise at least one borated dispersant and at least one non borated dispersant; e) 0.01 to 20 of mass% sulfurized fatty acid ester; f) 0.01 to 5 mass% of one or more amine or phenol based antioxidants; and g) 0.001 to 15 mass% of molybdenum containing compound, where the lubricating oil composition has: 1) a sulfated ash content of 0.9 mass% or less; 2) a Mack T-11 final soot % @ 15 cSt of 6.7 % or more; 3) a total base number of 5 to 30 mg KOH/g; 4) HTCBT of copper level increase of 20 ppm or less; 5) T-13 IR peak EOT of 40 abs/cm or less; and 6) Cam wear outlet of 45 µm or less.

摘要: The present technology provides compositions that include at least about 98 weight percent ("wt%") n-paraffins which, among other surprising features, may be suitable for use as a diesel fuel, an aviation fuel, a jet fuel blendstock, a blendstock to reduce the cloud point of a diesel fuel, a fuel for portable heaters, and/or as a charcoal lighter fluid. The composition includes at least about 98 wt% C7-C12 n-paraffins, where at least about 10 wt% of composition includes n-decane, at least about 20 wt% of the composition includes n-dodecane, and at least about 75 wt% of the composition includes even carbon number paraffins. The composition also includes less about 0.1 wt% oxygenates and less than about 0.1 wt % aromatics. The composition may be produced by a process that includes hydrotreating a biorenewable feedstock comprising at least one of palm kernel oil, coconut oil, babassu oil, microbial oil, or algal oil.

摘要: This invention relates to methods to reduce abnormal combustion events in the operation of an internal combustion engine comprising using a lubricating oil composition comprising/resulting from the admixing of: (i) base oil, (ii) detergent, preferably providing at least 800 ppm Mg and less than 500 ppm Ca; and (iii) abnormal combustion event inhibitor compound(s), preferably comprising at least one phosphorus containing compound providing greater than 0.12 mass% phosphorus; wherein: 1) the lubricating oil composition is a SAE 10W-X, SAE 5W-X or SAE 0W-X blend, where X is 8, 12, 16, 20, or 30; and 2) when the lubricating oil composition is combined with an 88 octane reference fuel, the combination completes at least 1 iteration of 175,000 cycles per iteration, as determined by Sequence IX Test, ASTM D829.
