A soap bar comprises 40-85 % soap, 1-40 % water immiscible benefit agent, 1-40 % solid water soluble carrier and 5-25 % water. The carrier is initially mixed with the benefit agent to form a premix which is subsequently dispersed into the soap. Suitable benefit agents are oils and humectants whereas suitable carriers are starches, modified starches and water soluble solid polymers.

Adjuvant powder compositions contain a benefit agent or agents and which powder compositions are used in detergent bar compositions to enhance delivery of the benefit agent. The carriers used to form adjuvants must have melting point high enough to survive spray-drying process. Specifically, the invention relates to a bar compositions comprising (A) about 1 % to 30 % powder comprising: (a) 1 % to 70 % by wt. powder benefit agent; (b) 15 % to 98 % by wt. powder carrier; (c) 1 % to 10 % by wt. powder water; and (d) 0 % to 30 % by wt. powder deposition/processing aid (e.g., surfactant, cationic polymer and/or hydrophilic polymer); and (B) 99 % to 70 % chips comprising 5 % to 90 % of a surfactant system wherein the surfactant is selected from the group consisting of soap, anionic surfactant, nonionic surfactant, amphoteric surfactant, cationic surfactant and mixtures thereof. The present invention also provides a process for making bars wherein (A) and (B) are separately prepared; wherein (a), (b), (c) and optional (d) are mixed at 40° to 80 °C; wherein the mixture of (a) and (b) is spray dried at 80 °C to 200 °C at a pressure of 0.10 to 0.30 MPa; and wherein (A) and (B) are mixed, plodded, and extruded into a final bar.

The present invention relates to a leave-on hair care composition comprising: (i) from about 0.1 % to about 10 %, by weight, of a cationic cross-linked polymeric conditioning agent comprising the monomer units (A)m (B)n (C)p and a cross-linking agent wherein: (A) is a dialkylaminoalkyl acrylate monomer or a quaternary ammonium or acid addition salt thereof; (B) is a dialkylaminoalkyl methacrylate monomer or a quaternary ammonium or acid addition salt thereof; (C) is a nonionic monomer polymerizable with (A) or (B); m, n, and p are independently zero or greater, but at least one of m or n is one or greater; (ii) from about 0.1 % to about 10 %, by weight, of a salt; and (iii) from about 60 % to about 99.8 %, by weight, of a polar solvent; wherein the weight ratio of said cationic cross-linked polymeric conditioning agent to said salt is from about 1:25 to about 25:1; wherein the viscosity of the composition is from about 10 cP to about 500 cP as measured using a Brookfield Viscometer, Spindel #41, at 25 °C, at 10 RPM for three minutes.

The present invention discloses a multiphase cleansing bar having a plurality of phases of cleansing material. Adjacent phases preferably have different concentration levels of benefit components and all the phases individually preferably have a substantially similar cleansing base selected from a syndet base, a soap base, or mixtures thereof. Chemical and rheological compatibility between the phases is maximized and recycling of the product during production is facilitated by the use of a uniform cleansing base. Methods of producing the inventive bar by extruding and melt casting are also disclosed.

The present invention provides a non-cationic antimicrobial agent containing composition which blooms when added to water. The compositions have good cleaning, disinfecting and bloom properties.
