To this end, a clamping device is used to pre-stress the tension member (1) at least at one end, at a distance (a) from the surface (2) of the supporting structure (3), by means of a temporary clamping element (4) which is fixed to the tension member (1), and the tension member is then pressed onto the surface (2) by means of at least one permanent brace (6). The two temporary clamping elements (4) are removed from the surface (2) once the tension member (1) has been pressed thereonto.

The invention relates to a device for tightening reinforcing elements, particularly unidirectional fibre laminates with a high strength of extension and one such elastic modulus connected to structures or parts of structures particularly structures with cement subjected to bending stress. The device comprises at least one tensioning means (SM) supplied with a mechanical drive. The tensioning means enters into contact with a first coupling member (K1) connected to at least one reinforcing element (V) and with a second coupling member (K2) connected to the structure (B). Non-uniform distribution of tension is avoided, especially along the width of the strip-type reinforcing elements, in addition to uncontrolled slackening of the tension during hardening of the conglutination before highly solid shear connection between the laminate and the concrete; correspondingly creation of tensioning devices of the above-mentioned variety for improved quality and reliability of the reinforcements in a rational manner of production. During the pre-tensioning flow of force between the connection of the first coupling member to the reinforcement element and the connection of the second coupling member to the structure, at least one pivoting connection (S1 or S2) is provided with at least one pivoting axis (A) arranged at an angle, especially an oblique angle, with respect to the tensioning device (X).

The present invention refers to a process of strengthening a stone or brick masonry wall, degraded (or not) by weathering or by seismic activity and that consists in simultaneously applying the following elements to the wall:
a) confining ties (10) that pass through the thickness of the wall preferentially along a previously cleaned joint. They are made from an elongated cylindrical tie-rod (14) that is threaded at one or both ends and that fastens two circular anchoring and strength distribution plates (12), each one possessing a cylindrical casing (13) for the housing of the tie-rod's head or of a tightening nut; b) a laminate superficial strengthening membrane (20), made of a composite material of glass or carbon fibres soaked in an epoxy resin, and made from an adhesive gauze (22), a distribution element (23), and a covering web (24), is applied to one or both surfaces of the wall.
In simpler cases it is possible to eliminate the confinement ties. When the opposed walls of a construction can be braced by adequately designed members, the composite laminate can be applied only on the external faces. The present invention can be especially used in the repair of buildings, with the aim of giving them an adequate resistance, especially to seismic activity.

Une portion du renfort (16) est collée sur la surface extérieure de la plaque d'ancrage (17) afin d'être ancrée sur la structure et de reprendre l'effort de cisaillement engendré par le renfort (16) au niveau de la couche de béton non armée sur la surface renforcée (15). La plaque d'ancrage (17) est avantageusement agencée pour assurer une précontrainte de traction sur le renfort (16) parallèlement à la direction principale (A).
