The shared lubrication oil supply mechanism (22) includes a first booster pump (80A) which pressurizes the shared lubrication oil lubricating both the engine main body unit (20) and the transmission unit (21) and a second booster pump (80B) which pressurizes at least part of the shared lubrication oil which has been pressurized by the first booster pump (80A) and which is in a positive pressure condition.

The object of this invention is to simplify the timing system of all types of internal combustion engine. The system eliminates existing conventional timing trains. The hydraulic, mechanical or electrical/electronic direct timing systems that form the subject of the invention offer minimal resistance and minimal transmission. The piston strokes are given directly by the crankshaft by means of a system fixed thereto which via a mechanical or hydraulic or electrical or electronic system transmits the strokes to the cylinder valves. The system can be connected to all types of indirect transmission and has adjusting systems that allow it to be adapted to suit all types of internal combustion engine.

An engine lubrication system having a lubricating oil pump that is rotationally driven by a crankshaft to send under pressure a lubricating oil to a part needing to be lubricated, characterized in that the lubricating oil pump is disposed so as to be connected to an end of a crankshaft in such a manner that a pump shaft aligns with the crankshaft substantially coaxially, in that an in-pump oil supply passageway is formed in the lubricating oil pump in such a manner as to pass therethrough from a side opposite to the crankshaft to a side of the crankshaft, and in that the in-pump oil supply passageway so formed is made to communicate at one end thereof with an in-crankshaft oil supply passageway formed in the crankshaft for supplying a lubricating oil to a part of the crankshaft which needs to be lubricated and is made to communicate at the other end thereof with a discharge port of the lubricating oil pump via a lubricating oil passageway.

A lubricating oil feeding apparatus of an internal combustion engine (1) can adjust an amount of oil fed to each bearing and provides for a reduced number of parts for a shaft portion structure of a starter driven gear. In the engine, a balancer shaft (12) is synchronously rotated with a crankshaft (13). The crankshaft (13) and the balancer shaft (12) are rotatably supported on a split surface (3) of a crankcase (2) by plain bearings. Parallel oil passages (26,36) communicate with oil holes provided in the plain bearings (39a-d) for exclusively feeding lubricating oil to at least the crankshaft and the balancer shaft. The opening areas of the oil holes provided in the plain bearings of the balancer shaft are smaller than the oil holes (47) provided in the plain bearings of the crankshaft. An outer portion of a starter one-way clutch can also be integrally fitted on a rotor. A driven gear (44) of the starter (219) is connected to a starter drive gear (218) of a starter motor by intermediate gears. The diameter D b of a starter driven gear bearing portion of the crankshaft is the same as the diameter D a of a supporting portion of the crankshaft. A starter driven gear (44) (215) of the starter one-way clutch (211) is fitted to the starter driven gear (215) bearing portion of the crankshaft (13) by a slide bearing to be freely rotated relative to the starter driven gear (44) bearing portion. A lead groove is provided on the inner surface of the bearing for positively feeding oil to the receiving surface of the slide bearing.
