A hydraulic valve assembly (10) for selectably delivering hydraulic fluid from a supply of hydraulic fluid to one of a first hydraulic operator (80) and a second hydraulic operator (82) is disclosed. The assembly includes first (32) and second (34) supply ports which communicate with the supply (18) and four operator ports (44,46,48,50). First (44) and third (48) ports communicate with the first hydraulic operator (80). Second (46) and fourth (50) ports communicate with the fourth hydraulic operator (82). First (36) and second (38) chambers are provided. The first chamber communicates with the first supply port and first and second operator ports. The second chamber communicates with the second supply port and third and fourth operator ports. Two selection valves (60,61) operating in unison are each located in each chamber. The selection valves operate between a first position at a first hydraulic fluid pressure and a second position at a second hydraulic fluid pressure. In a first position, the valves permit fluid communication of the first and second supply ports with the first and third operator ports, respectively. In a second position, the valves permit fluid communication with the second and fourth operator ports.

The invention relates to a hydraulic pilot control comprising two control outputs (96, 97) which can be impinged upon by a control pressure and a hydraulic pilot control device which has a lever (81) that can be moved from a neutral position in a first and second direction. The hydraulic pilot control also comprises a pressure valve (69) which can be adjusted by displacing the lever from the neutral position. In a control pilot of this type, it should be possible to adjust the symmetrical behaviour of the pilot pressure used to displace the control lever in said two directions in a simple manner. To this end, the invention provides that the pressure valve can be adjusted in the same way, for both a displacement of the lever in the first direction and a displacement of the lever in the second direction. A directional valve (73) connects a regulating output (80) of the pressure valve to the first control output (96) or to the second control output (97), depending on the direction in which the lever is displaced.

The system includes a relatively small multiplexing valve or valve array which has a common input and a plurality of individually selected outputs. The multiplexing valve has a control input which is responsive to a source of binary selector signals, such selector signals being used to directly address any particular channel connected to the multiplexer. The system also includes means for modulating a hydraulic signal in accordance with selected ones of the plurality of electrical control signals, and applying the modulated hydraulic signal to the multiplexer common input. Control means then coordinates the addressing of the multiplexer with the modulating of the hydraulic signal to assure that hydraulic signals of the appropriate magnitude are coupled to each addressed channel, thereby to control all of the channels in accordance with the control signals for each channel.

A time multiplexed hydraulic control system is disclosed in which a multiple section dog valve (35) is multiplexed among a plurality of channels. An electrical actuator (30) on the dog valve controls pilot means (31). The pilot means (31) is associated with a plurality of followers (40,41,42), one for each channel, and each follower (40,41,42) controls the flow rate through an associated output port (36,37,38). Multiplexing means in the dog valve (35) sequentially supplies fluid to the pilot means (31) for sequentially positioning then locking the respective followers (40,41,42). Thus, each channel has continuous hydraulic flow based on the position of its dedicated follower (40,41,42), with the followers (40,41,42) being repositioned on a multiplexed basis in associated time slots.
