The caliper housing (16) comprises an axially inner housing leg facing the vehicle, an outer housing leg and a housing bridge. The outer housing leg comprises at least two housing fingers (18) substantially extending in a radial direction. Said housing fingers span a side window (20) that is arranged in between and is open toward the rotational axis. The housing fingers (18) each comprise an end section (21) facing the rotational axis. A guard screen (25) covers the end sections (21) of the housing fingers (18) completely and covers a section of the side window (20) facing the rotational axis. A vehicle steering knuckle assembly (304) for use in association with a vehicle steering axle assembly (305) is shown to include an upper piece (306) having a first king pin bore (316) extending through it and a backbone piece (308) removably connected to the first piece (306). The backbone (308) has a second king pin bore extending through it. The upper piece (306) has an integral steering arm (310) and a pad (312) through which is machined a steering ball taper. The lower piece (308) has an integral tie rod (330) and a pad (332) through which is machined a tie rod ball taper. Because the two pieces are removable from each other, the steering knuckle can be assembled and serviced while a king pin is retained in place in an axle beam.

A vehicle wheel brake system (9) for a wheel suspension assembly has an anti-lock braking system ('ABS') to provide a higher resolution brake apply and brake release relative to an ABS system having a single, fixed brake disc. The brake system comprises a mounting hub (14) for a road wheel mounted on the wheel suspension assembly for rotation about a rotational axis. At least two slidable brake discs (38, 41) are mounted to slide axially along the hub between braking and off-brake positions and provide signals when the wheel condition is within preset parameters relative to the speed of the vehicle. A brake actuator system is operable manually and is operable automatically by the ABS controller to operate the caliper and a frequency of brake apply and with release of at least double the frequency of brake apply and release of a fixedsingle brake disc system.
