During a compression stroke of the piston body, the monodisc valve element is movable to a maximum compression deflected position wherein it is uniformly supported by the compression stop surface. During an extension stroke of the piston body the monodisc valve element is movable to a maximum extension deflected position wherein it is uniformly supported by the extension stop surface.
