The invention relates to a scrap-pushing apparatus having a scrap pusher, which is guided in a linear guide, and having a hydraulic drive system, which comprises at least one cylinder/piston unit, wherein the scrap pusher has at least one active pusher end surface in a projection normal to the pusher-guiding direction. The scrap pusher comprises an internally guided pushing block, which can be driven by means of at least one piston-comprising second hydraulic cylinder/piston unit relative to the first-mentioned cylinder/piston unit. This pushing block comprises an active end surface in projection normal to its guiding direction. Moreover, the quotient of the active piston surface area of all the second cylinder/piston units and of the active end surface is greater than the quotient of the active piston surface areas of all the first cylinder/piston units and of the active pusher end surface. The present invention increases the reliability of the function of the scrap-pushing apparatus.
