The cleaning unit (20) is inserted into the respective tube (4) and supplied with a liquid under high-pressure. The aim of the invention is to improve such a method and device such that a reliable cleaning process is carried out without operating errors. Die Kupplung ist über ein Zeitrelais gesteuert, das mit einem am Ende des Fahrweges des Lanzenrohres (1) angeordneten Endschalter (23) verbunden ist. Über das Zeitrelais wird die Kupplung für einen kurzen Zeitraum außer Eingriff gebracht, so daß eine der beiden Bewegungen des Lanzenrohres - Längsbewegung oder Drehbewegung - angehalten wird, während die jeweils andere Bewegung weiter ausgeführt wird.
