摘要： A projectile propulsion system includes a launch tube, multiphase material, and a membrane. The launch tube has an interior cavity, the multiphase material disposed therein. The launch tube also has an opening to receive the multiphase material. The membrane seals the opening while the multiphase material is disposed in the interior cavity of the launch tube so as to allow the launch tube to be pressurized. When the membrane is broken, a supersonic wave thrusts the contents of the interior cavity, such as a projectile, outwards with a high velocity and force.

摘要： A projectile launcher is provided comprising a barrel (10) wherein a projectile (12) is stored prior to launch and a mechanism for launching said projectile, said mechanism being coupled with a user-operated trigger mechanism for initiating the launch of the projectile. Also coupled with the trigger mechanism (40,42) is a mechanism for generating an audiovisual stimulus, whereby said stimulus is generated simultaneously upon the launch. In the preferred embodiment, an air-powered mechanism is utilized for launching the projectile, said air-powered mechanism including a user-operated pump (18,20) that serves to compress air in a pressurizable tank (22), which compressed air is then released so as to propel the projectile when the user pulls the trigger (42). A variety of projectiles are contemplated, including discs, arrows, darts and the like, and a variety of different mechanisms for propelling the projectiles are likewise contemplated, including spring means, magnetic means, elastic means, and the like.

摘要： A variable velocity pneumatic launcher including at least one chamber filled with a projectile. The launcher includes a ballast chamber filled with pressurized air released to propel a projectile from the launcher's barrel. The launcher includes a firing chamber filled with ambient air and a ballast chamber filled with pressurized air. A piston rod extends between the chambers and attaches to a firing piston and a ballast piston inside the firing chamber and ballast chamber, respectively. The rod is connected to a velocity valve which controls the rod's longitudinal movement. When the trigger is activated, pressurized air from the ballast chamber is delivered to the firing chamber. Because the surface area of the firing piston is greater than the ballast piston's surface area, the force exerted on the firing piston is sufficient to displace the ballast piston and allow pressurize air to be released into the upper chamber containing the projectile.
