摘要:
In some examples, a processoris configured to predict the presence of ice crystals(e.g., high altitude ice crystals)in a volume of airspace based on radar reflectivity values and one or more other types of information indicative of weather conditions in the volume of airspace, such as one or more of: ambient airtemperature and altitude. For example, the processor may predict the ice crystals presence by at least estimating the iced water content level within a volume of airspace of interest based on radar reflectivity values for the volume of airspace (e.g., stored as in a three-dimensional buffer)and other information indicative of weather conditions of the volume of airspace. The processor may estimate the iced water content level using a model that relates the information indicative of weather conditions in and around the volume of interest to iced water content in the atmosphere.

A method implementable in a weather-radar system (40) of an aircraft, the weather-radar system configured to generate to a display device (44), in response to radar return information indicating reflectivity levels below a predetermined reflectivity threshold, an image in a first presentation format. The method includes determining if the altitude of the aircraft is above a predetermined threshold altitude, and, if the altitude of the aircraft is above the threshold altitude, displaying, in response to radar return information indicating reflectivity levels below the predetermined reflectivity threshold, the image in a second presentation format different from the first presentation format.

This disclosure is directed to methods, devices, and systems for generating a weather radar output with bright band suppression. In one example, a method includes determining, for each of several portions of a vertical column from a weather radar signal, a reflectivity range selected from a highest reflectivity range and one or more lower reflectivity ranges. The method further includes determining, in response to determining that portions of the vertical column are in the highest reflectivity range, whether a combination of the reflectivity ranges of the portions of the vertical column meet criteria indicative of high-reflectivity stratiform weather. The method further includes generating, in response to determining that the combination of the reflectivity ranges of the portions of the vertical column meet the criteria indicative of high-reflectivity stratiform weather, a weather radar output that indicates each of the portions of the vertical column as associated with one of the lower reflectivity ranges.

The present disclosure discloses a method and apparatus for processing a Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) image. The method includes that: decomposition and color space conversion are performed on an original PolSAR image to obtain a Saturation (S) channel image, a Hue (H) channel image and an Intensity (I) channel image; filtering and K-means clustering are performed on the S channel image to extract a first area from the S channel image; filtering and K-means clustering are performed on the H channel image based on the first area to extract a second area from the H channel image; filtering and K-means clustering are performed on the I channel image based on the second area, and morphological filtering is performed on the I channel image having gone through the K-means clustering; and a third area is determined, according to an area attribute parameter, from the I channel image having gone through the morphological filtering.

A display screen for displaying multiple sets of information is provided. The display screen includes at least one region of a select color designated to convey a first set of information and a plurality of adjustable areas designated to convey a second set of information. The plurality of adjustable areas overlay at least a portion of the at least one region of select color of the first set of information. Moreover, each adjustable area is defined by an outline and a color encased in the outline.

摘要:
A system and method for determining and displaying an unknown weather due to receiving maximum radar attenuation compensation using a three-dimensional memory. The system and method may also determine whether the flight plan conflicts with an unknown weather zone. The user is alerted to an unknown weather zone and any flight plan conflict with an unknown zone. The user is alerted to the unknown weather zone using displays, sounds, or words that can be generated based on a determined hazard level.
