摘要:
A method of controlling a colour image forming apparatus capable of preventing an image from being distorted at a boundary of a colour image region due to misregistration to improve printing quality. The method includes determining whether original image data is in a colour image region, detecting boundary region information on a plurality of colour channels when the original image data is in the colour image region, selecting a channel to be extended using the detected boundary region information, and extending the selected channel.

A printer driver (603) in a host computer (PC/WS) (11) instructs an image input/output apparatus (3) to perform clear toner printing in which color-toner data printed by using plural color toners and clear-toner data printed by using a clear toner are printed in a superimposed relation. Upon accepting an instruction for a test print of the clear toner printing, the printer driver defines a first color and a second color, which differ from each other and which are discernable relative to colors designated in the color-toner data, and issues a printing instruction to the image input/output apparatus such that a portion designated in the clear-toner data where the clear toner is coated by the clear toner printing is printed in the first color, and a portion designated in the clear-toner data where the clear toner is not coated by the clear toner printing is printed in the second color.

An image-forming apparatus comprises a photoconductor (20) on which a latent image can be formed, and a moving member (55) having attaching/detaching sections (55a,55b,55c,55d) to/from each of which one of developing units (51,52,53,54) can be attached/detached. Each of the developing units has a developer container for containing developer that is capable of developing the latent image formed on the photoconductor. The developer in the developer container is stirred by moving the moving member (55) when none of the developing units attached to each of the attaching/detaching sections is developing a latent image formed on the photoconductor, and the timing of moving the moving member to stir the developer in the developer container is variable.

An image carrier (20) is adapted such that an electrostatic latent image is formed thereon. A rotary member (50) has a plurality of loading sections (50a,50b,50c,50d) each of which is adapted to accommodate a particular developing device (51) which is operable to develop the electrostatic latent image. A motor (401) is operable to rotate the rotary member so that each of the loading sections is sequentially opposed to the image carrier, and operable to exert a detent torque when no power is supplied thereto. A home position is defined, in a case where only one of the loading sections accommodates its developing device, such that the one of the loading sections is placed either higher or lower than any other loading section. The motor rotates the rotary member to the home position whenever the development of the electrostatic latent image is not performed. The rotary member is retained in the home position with the detent torque exerted by the motor.

An electrophotographic image forming apparatus is provided that includes a plurality of developing units (4), a cam shaft (120), and a plurality of cams (131) disposed on the cam shaft (120) corresponding to the respective developing units (4). A power transmitting device disposed between the developing units (4) and the cams (131) selectively transmits rotational force from a driving source (10) to the plurality of developing units (4).

An image forming apparatus adapted for a smooth mounting/dismounting of a process unit and for the reduction of wasteful power consumption is provided. Unless a new image signal is applied after completion of an image forming operation, the apparatus starts a clocking operation by an internal timer (Step S101). If the apparatus is left standstill for a predetermined length of time (Step S102), a sleep process (Step S103) is executed to shift the apparatus to a power save mode to consume less power. When an outside cover is opened (Step S105), on the other hand, the apparatus is shifted to a replacement operation mode (Step S106) in which only the rotation of a development rotary is permitted. However, if the apparatus is left with the outside cover opened (Step S108), the sleep process is executed.

An image forming apparatus (10) includes a developing rotary unit (50) configured to attach a plurality of developing cartridges (51-54), the developing cartridges (51-54) respectively having cartridge storage portions (51b-54b) for respectively storing identification information about the corresponding developing cartridges (51-54), a communicating unit (124) that communicates with the cartridge storage portions (51b-54b), a storage unit (105) configured to store the identification information, and a control unit (100) that reads the identification information from the cartridge storage portions (51b-54b) of all the developing cartridges (51-54) through the communicating unit (124) and writes the read identification information into the storage unit (105) so as to update the identification information stored in the storage unit (105) when a power supply of the image forming apparatus (10) is turned ON or a body cover for the developing rotary unit (50) is closed.
摘要:
An image forming apparatus, for example, that is capable of accurately writing information into a developing unit or the like having an element is achieved. An image forming apparatus comprises: an attach/detach section to and from which a developing unit having an element into which information can be written and a developer containing section can be attached and detached; a photoconductor on which a latent image can be formed; a writing member for writing information into the element; and an AC voltage supply section for supplying an AC voltage. During a period from a start to an end of an image forming process, the writing member writes information into the element of the developing unit attached to the attach/detach section when the AC voltage supply section is not supplying an AC voltage.
