Abstract:
A process for controlling body weight of a consumer obtains food energy data of candidate food servings to be ingested based on a human beings metabolic efficiency in utilizing first and second nutrients of the candidate food servings and ingesting the food servings such that a sum of the food energy data thereof bears a predetermined relationship to predetermined food energy benchmark data of the consumer for a given period. Related processes for selecting and purchasing food, for producing food energy data and for producing a food product are provided. Related processes and systems for supplying food energy data to a requester and supplying meal plan data to a consumer are also provided. Food energy data are obtained with a processor and are associated with the food product e.g. by printing a label and putting this on the packaging of the food product.
Abstract:
A computing device is described that obtains an indication of movement associated with the computing device, and responsive to determining that the movement does not satisfy an activity threshold indicative of a user of the computing device being in a physically active state, determines, based at least in part on contextual information associated with the computing device, a recommended physical activity for the user to perform, and determines, based at least in part on the contextual information, a current activity associated with the user. Responsive to determining that a degree of likelihood that the recommended physical activity can be performed concurrently with the current activity satisfies a probability threshold, the computing device outputs a notification of the recommended physical activity.
Abstract:
Systems and methods recommending edibles for consumption after considering a user's edible intake over a period of time. Each edible item, consumed or recommended, is associated with a set of parameters (or parameter ranges) that represent the various nutrients contained in that edible item (e.g., vitamins, minerals, calories, fat, etc.). The consumed items can be aggregated in various ways (simple averages, moving averages, weighted averages) to yield an overall indicator of the user's nutritional state and, given a goal nutritional state, edibles can be recommended for consumption that advance the user's nutritional state towards a goal nutritional state.
Abstract:
The invention regards monitoring and modification of eating behavior through continuous meal weight measurements, and has been successfully applied in clinical practice to treat obesity and eating disorders. For this purpose, the Mandometer ®, a plate scale, along with video recordings of subjects during the course of single meals, has been used to assist clinicians in measuring relevant food intake parameters. In this work, we present a novel algorithm for automatically constructing a subject's food intake curve using only the Mandometer ® weight measurements. This eliminates the need for direct clinical observation or video recordings, thus significantly reducing the manual effort required for analysis. The proposed algorithm aims at identifying specific meal related events (e.g. bites, food additions, artifacts), by applying an adaptive pre-processing stage using Delta coefficients, followed by event detection based on a parametric Probabilistic Context-Free Grammar on the derivative of the recorded sequence. Experimental results on a dataset of 114 meals from individuals suffering from obesity or eating disorders, as well as from individuals with normal BMI, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
Abstract:
Presented are concepts for monitoring the liquid or food consumption of a person. Once such concept employs the step of detecting a change in weight of the person resultant from usage of a toilet. A value representative of at least one of liquid consumption and food consumption of the person may then be determined based on the detected change in weight of the person.
Abstract:
The handheld blood glucose meter creates blood glucose records having contextual information to improve filtering of blood glucose records for improved healthcare decisions. The contextual information includes events and associated sub-events. The user selects an event indicator from the plurality of event indicators, and the meter associates the blood glucose measurement with an event that corresponds to the event indicator. The user selects a sub-event indicator from the plurality of sub-event indicators, and the meter associates the blood glucose measurement with a sub-event that corresponds to the sub-event indicator. The user repeats the preceding steps to obtain a plurality of blood glucose measurements with associated events and sub-events. The user selects data filtering, a predetermined range of blood glucose measurements along with an event and sub-event to produce a filter result meeting these criteria.
Abstract:
A characteristic evaluation apparatus (1) cumulatively stores, in a measurement history DB (13), measurement information (measurement date and time, measurement value and the like) that is obtained by measuring, by a weight scale (3) and the like, biological information or behavior information of a subject person. An arithmetic processing unit (11) evaluates psychological characteristics of the subject person with respect to a biological change or a behavioral change as a goal for the subject person based on a history of the measurement information of the subject person that is stored in the measurement history DB (13). A communication unit (14) outputs evaluation results evaluated by the arithmetic processing unit (11) with respect to the psychological characteristics of the subject person.
Abstract:
