The present invention relates to a technique for detecting that all components that make up a completed portion of a form (20) are synchronized. A method is provided for detecting that for a print job, all of the components that make up a completed portion of each form (20) are printed in synchronicity or in the case of an error in synchronicity, an error condition is asserted. The print job comprises at least one form (20), and each form (20) may contain more than one image, each image may contains one or more image planes (12, 14, 16, 18) and the images on each form of a document may vary. Each image contains a composite image group (CIG) mark (26) comprising the set of image plane coordination (IPC) marks (24) associated with each individual image plane. An IPC mark (26) is printed by each print engine such that it is possible via inspection of these marks to determine if the complete set of image planes that make up a specific image is present. The present invention allows one to confirm, using the CIG marks (26), that all forms in a print job are synchronized.

There is an image processing system which inputs and edits image data including document data and prints and displays a document with figures with a beautiful style. This system comprises: an output device which can output the image data including document data; a parameter adding device to add output parameters to edit the image data outputted by the output device; and an edition control unit which can edit, as a headline, at least a part of the image data outputted by the output device on the basis of the parameters added by the parameter adding device. These parameters include data such as position, size, character style, and the like of the headline. With this system, arbitrary information such as headline, catchword, line number, page number, caption, or the like can be extremely easily arranged at any position of the image data displayed on the CRT and the document with such information can be printed as a beautiful style. Also, the document and figure data can be freely edited.

Image rotate control circuitry buffers one column of display or video data which is subsequently printed along a horizontal print line. A video dot counter (205) cycles each horizontal scan line while a print line counter (207) cycles each vertical scan. Video data is entered into the buffer (250) when the count in the video dot counter equals the count in the print line counter. After one refresh of the display the buffer contains one print line of data. This data is shifted from the buffer to the printer during the vertical retrace or vertical blank period of the display. The control circuitry sends a strobe signal to the printer for the print operation as a new column of data is being buffered during the next refresh of the display.
