    摘要: A gear arrangement includes a first gear wheel 10 having a section 12 with missing teeth. A second gear wheel 14 is arranged to mesh with the first gear wheel 10. The first tooth 16 on the first gear wheel 10 to engage with the second gear wheel 14 (following the missing teeth section 12) is resiliently movable inwardly within a radial slot 18 to withdraw when engaging an opposing tooth 22. A spring 20 urges the tooth 16 outwardly to one side of the opposing tooth 22 and into a gap on that side of the opposing tooth 22, so as to align the first and second gear wheels. Such a gear arrangement has particular use in a geared value setting mechanism provided on a print drum shaft of a postage meter.

    摘要: An electrical impulse operated number wheel counter with coaxial number wheels (2); transfer pinions (8); a reciprocable pawl (12) engaging the first number wheel and a solenoid (20) driving the pawl, has a series of leaf springs (33) carried on the solenoid armature (24). In the rest position the leaf springs (33) engage bosses (9) on the transfer pinions to ensure that the number wheels (2) are correctly aligned but when the solenoid (20) is energised to effect a count, the movement of the armature (24) lifts the leaf springs away from the transfer pinions (8) which can therefore rotate unhindered. An additional effect of the leaf springs is to reduce the power consumption of the counter and this effect can still be achieved with other spring arrangements. A shock resistance element (50) is freely rotatably mounted in the path of the pawl (12) so as to be struck in the event of shock induced movement of the pawl, substantially to eliminate spurious shock induced counts.

    摘要: A bi-directional snap-action register mechanism for an odometer-type mechanical register display. The mechanism includes at lease one register display wheel (61) and a bi-directional cam (17) mounted coaxially along a common shaft (1) with the register display wheel. The bi-directional cam (17) engages a helical groove (15) formed along the shaft to allow lateral displacement of the bi-directional cam in a direction parallel to a rotational axis of the shaft (1). A pin (i4) is biased by a spring into contact with the bi-directional cam. Rotation of the shaft causes the bi-directional cam to be moved with respect to the pin. The cam abruptly rotates through a predetermined angular distance when the point of contact of the biased pin with the cam moved from a smooth portion to a step transition portion of the cam. The abrupt rotation of the cam is communicated to the register display wheel to cause a new display position to be moved into view.

Un effet supplementaire des ressorts a lame est de reduire la consommation d'energie du compteur et cet effet peut aussi etre obtenu avec d'autres dispositifs a ressorts. Un element de resistance de choc (50) est monte en rotation libre dans le chemin du linguet (12) de maniere a ce qu'il soit heurte dans le cas d'un mouvement du linguet induit par un choc, essentiellement pour eliminer les faux comptages engendres par des chocs.
