The camera device that has detected video abnormality transmits video-image abnormality detection information to a server. In the plurality of areas, it is possible to use different detection algorithms such as a first algorithm in which it is determined that an abnormality has occurred when there is no change in the average luminance value, a second algorithm in which it is determined that an abnormality has occurred when there is a change in the average luminance value, and a third algorithm for observing a change in the video captured while a change is made to an aperture, exposure time, or the like.

The warning generation method includes the steps of : a) decoding video image signals and extracting luminance signals from the decoded video image signals; b) filtering high-frequency components of the extracted luminance signals and detecting edge components within the video image signals; c) extracting only values within a range of a predetermined first threshold value form the detected edge components; d) accumulating the detected edge components for one video image; and e) operating a warning device if an accumulation value is smaller than a predetermined second threshold value. When an intruder blinds a camera lens using a cover, the security system can generate a warning by identifying the fact that the camera is blinded by the cover.

The invention relates to a method for detecting motion in a scene, characterised by the following steps: (a) determining two chromatic values (H1, H2) of a scene point by measuring the brightness (H1i, H2i) of the point in at least n different spectral regions at two different times, where n is an integer number ≥2, (b) determining a first and a second vector (h1, h2) in an n'-dimensional vector space, for the two chromatic values, by means of measured brightness values (H1i, H2i), where 2≤n'≤n, (c) determining the distance of the end point of the second vector (h2) to a straight line defined by the first vector (h1), and (d) deciding that motion occurred when the distance exceeds a predetermined threshold value (ε). The invention also relates to a device for implementing such a method. Considering that the brightness values are taken into account and related to different spectral regions, the existence of motion in the scene can be evaluated more safely than when the overall scene brightness is observed in visible light.
