    摘要: There is provided a method for predicting a current transformer saturation, comprising: detecting a first current from a first current transformer at a high voltage side of a transformer and detecting a second current from a second current transformer at a low voltage side of the transformer; calculating a first fundamental vector, a first DC component and a first total RMS of the first current, and calculating a second fundamental vector, a second DC component and a second total RMS of the second current; and generating a prediction signal for the current transformer saturation according to the first fundamental vector, the first DC component, the first total RMS, the second fundamental vector, the second DC component and the second total RMS. The current transformer saturation may be predicted effectively before it triggers a differential protection of the transformer, thus a differential protection mal-operation of the transformer may be avoided.

    摘要: The reliability of transformer differential relays is enhanced by providing a method and apparatus which enable improved discrimination between transformer current differentials due to transformer inrush current and current differentials due the occurrence of an internal fault. This improvement in discrimination is provided by generating a first signal representative of currents flowing in at least two windings of the transformer, a second signal representative of a positive portion of the first signal, and a third signal representative of a negative portions of the first signal. A first output signal is generated when the magnitude of the second signal exceeds a first predetermined value, and a second output signal is generated when the magnitude of the third signal exceeds a second predetermined value. A trip signal is generated upon coincidence of the first and second output signals. Additional operate energy is generated when the magnitude of the absolute value of a vector sum operate signal, representative of the vector sum of currents flowing in at least two windings of the transformer, exceeds a first predetermined magnitude.     摘要: A differential protection system for power transformers using Rogowski coils as current sensors can support an inrush current detection method based on sensing lows in the derivative of the sensed current. Effective detection of power transformer inrush conditions can enable blocking of a protection relay during inrush where the differential current may exceed a differential threshold value indicative of a fault without the presence of an actual fault. The outputs of the Rogowski coils, being proportional to the first time derivative of the sensed current, may be useful in the inrush detection method. Also, with reduced saturation concerns, the Rogowski coil protection system may employ a single slope response with increased sensitivity. A discrete time sampling technique for identifying low di/dt portions within the sensed current also may be useful in detecting power transformer inrush conditions.
