Abstract:
A tunable RF filter, comprising: an emitter follower stage (2); and a common emitter stage (4); the common emitter stage (4) providing feedback to the emitter follower stage (2). The common emitter stage (4) may comprise a first transistor (Ti) being the only transistor of the common emitter stage (4); and the emitter follower stage (2) may comprise a second transistor (T2) being the only transistor of the emitter follower stage (2). A further tunable RF filter provides improved linearity, comprising: an emitter follower stage (22); a joint common emitter and emitter follower stage (24); and a gain stage (26); a common emitter output of the joint common emitter and emitter follower stage (24) providing feedback to the emitter follower stage (22), and an emitter follower output of the joint common emitter and emitter follower stage (24) providing an input to the gain stage (26).
Abstract:
An amplifier circuit, particularly for RF-purposes comprises: a main current stream of a controllable RF-semiconductor device having a control input, a control means having a control output coupled to the control input for controlling the main current stream, and a compensation circuit having a compensation output coupled to the control input for compensating the controllable semiconductor device. The compensation circuit is constructed so as to be temporarily active during a period of time wherein the control means do not supply a control output signal to the control input of the controllable semiconductor device. This provides a suitable solution for IC's and for dealing with DC-adjustment disturbances in a low DC-current dissipating manner caused by a lack of pull-down capability when the amplifier circuit operates at very high frequencies or at relatively large amplitudes.

Abstract:
An apparatus (100) for performing capacitor amplification in an electronic device may include a first resistor (R cmp ) and a second resistor (R cmn ) that are connected in series and coupled between a set of input terminals of a receiver in the electronic device, a common mode capacitor (C cm ) having a first terminal coupled to a common mode terminal and having a second terminal, and an alternating current-coupled amplifier (110A), hereinafter AC-coupled amplifier, that is coupled between the common mode terminal and the second terminal of the common mode capacitor (C cm ). The first resistor (R cmp ) and the second resistor (R cmn ) may be arranged for obtaining a common mode voltage (V cm ) at the common mode terminal (V cm ) between the first resistor (R cmp ) and the second resistor (R cmn ). In addition, the common mode capacitor (C cm ) may be arranged for reducing a common mode return loss. Additionally, the AC-coupled amplifier (110A) may be arranged for performing capacitor amplification for the common mode capacitor (C cm ).
Abstract:
The odd harmonic distortion components in the output signal (vo) of a capacitively loaded follower transistor (2) is reduced by means of an additional transistor (14) inserted between the emitter of the follower transistor (2) and the bias current source (12) of the follower transistor (2) and a second follower transistor (18) which receives the same input signal as the follower transistor (2) and which has its emitter coupled to the emitter of the additional transistor (14) via a compensation capacitor (20). The current iC through the compensation capacitor (20) is added to the output current (io) and compensates for the odd harmonic distortion.
