By sending (120) an indication of operational status of the dual homed attachment circuits within overhead associated with the traffic and sent with the traffic through the network, a selection can be made (130) of which of the provided paths and attachment circuits to use for the traffic, based on the indicated operational status, and on OTN fault detection, to protect against a fault. Thus protection can extend across the edge nodes without interworking of separate protection schemes and without a control plane. Traffic flows can be multiplexed at the ingress, with the indication in the overhead having separate indications for each of the traffic flows.

An die Teilnehmer werden mehrere Breitband-Hauptkanäle und ein Breitband-Zusatzkanal übertragen, indem aus diesen Kanälen in teilnehmerindividuellen Breitband-Multiplexern Breitband-Multiplexsignale gebildet werden. In den Breitband-Hauptkanälen werden Fernsehprogramme (FS 1 ...FS n-1 ) oder Bildfernsprechsignale (B an ) übertragen; im Breitband-Zusatzkanal Ton-Rundfunkprogramme und Schmalbandsignale (SD an ). Die Ton-Rundfunkprogramme werden von einer Antennenanlage (Ant) empfangen und in einer Ton-Aufbereitung (Ton-A) zu einem Ton-Multiplexsignal (ST) aufbereitet. In teilnehmerindividuellen Zusatzkanal-Multiplexern wird aus dem Ton-Multiplexsignal (ST) und den Schmalbandsignalen (SD an ) der Breitband-Zusatzkanal gebildet. In der Gegenrichtung wird ein Breitband-Rückkanal übertragen, welcher in teilnehmerindividuellen Rückkanal-Demultiplexern in ein Bildfernsprechrücksignal (B ab ) und Schmalbandrücksignale (SD, b ) zerlegt wird. The present invention provides a Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) tributary module supporting multiple service processing, which includes an SDH tributary processing unit and at least two service processing units, the SDH tributary processing unit which is connected with each of the service processing units respectively multiplexing and demultiplexing different service signals in an SDH signal, and each of the service processing units which is directly connected with a corresponding local interface respectively mapping and unmapping corresponding service signals. The tributary module further includes a multiple service cross processing unit which is connected with each of the service processing units to implement interconnection among different services. The present invention can reduce the number of board and avoid using external network line or equipment, so as to reduce the cost of equipment, facilitate the maintenance of equipment and improve the reliability of equipment.
