The message is transmitted in association with an identifier to indicate a terminal device to which the message is addressed. A characteristic for the identifier, for example a value or control region search space for the identifier, is dependent on whether the message is to be transmitted in accordance with the first transmission scheme or the second transmission scheme. A terminal device to which the message is addressed determines the transmission scheme from the characteristic of the identifier and receives the message accordingly.

By using the foregoing method, the device, and the system, actual performance of a multi-carrier communications system can be reflected in a relatively accurate way.
