Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide an optical network unit ONU registration method, an apparatus, and a system. The ONU registration method includes: scanning, by an ONU port, a downstream wavelength channel, where the ONU port is one of a plurality of ports on an ONU; receiving, by the ONU port, a discovery grant message from an optical line terminal OLT, where the discovery grant message includes a channel identifier of a downstream wavelength channel on which the discovery grant message is being transmitted; sending, by the ONU port, a register request message to the OLT, where the register request message includes a port number of the ONU port; and receiving, by the ONU port, a register message from the OLT, where the register message includes the port number of the ONU port and an ONU logical identifier allocated by the OLT to the ONU port. In the embodiments of the present invention, the ONU port receives a discovery grant from the OLT, sends a register request to the OLT, and receives, from the OLT, the ONU logical identifier allocated to the ONU port. This provides an efficient ONU registration mechanism, to perform ONU management and maintenance at a granularity of an ONU port, so that the ONU can support more bandwidth channels, and a bandwidth is increased.
Abstract:
A method, system and computer program for transmitting at least two payloads in a downstream traffic phase of a time-division duplex (TDD) cycle with a single preamble from a headend followed by concatenated payloads without intervening preambles, whereby the payloads are ranked by increasing modulation profiles. The preamble, and concatenated and ordered set of payloads are then transmitted to two or more predetermined customer premise equipments (CPEs).
Abstract:
Systems and methods for establishing Parameterized QoS flows in a managed network can include a Designated Network Node (like a Network Controller or any network node) discovering a plurality of network nodes. The Designated Network Node discovering one or more of the plurality of network nodes; classifying the discovered network node or nodes based on node type; determining from the classification which node or nodes are designated for supporting Parameterized QoS flows; and invoking a request to a MoCA layer to create Parameterized QoS flows between the network node or nodes classified as designated for Parameterized QoS flows and the source nodes (like BHR and DVRs); wherein the bandwidth designated for the individual Parameterized QoS flows is either a nominal value or actual value specified by the Designated Network Node such that the actual aggregate bandwidth for the Parameterized QoS flows does not exceed the network bandwidth available for actual Parameterized QoS flows; wherein when actual bandwidth is specified for each flow, the Designated Network Node can preempt some PQoS flows in order to release PQoS bandwidth for a new PQOS flow; wherein the Designated Network Node is provisioned with a trusted device list designating nodes for supporting PQoS flows, and preemption rules that can be used for preemption.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided for the delivery of digital television and interactive broadband service in a manner that maximizes the useage of the digital broadcast spectrum. A digital television signal is transmitted to a given broadcast area in a relatively small part (for example, a 1 MHz band) of one or more licensed portions of the digital broadcast spectrum. Interactive broadband service is delivered within at least a portion of the same broadcast area covered by the broadcast digital television signal, in the remainder (for example, a 5 MHz band) of an unused part of the same licensed portion of the digital broadcast spectrum as is occupied by the digital television signal, or within an unlicensed (unused) portion of the digital broadcast spectrum. The broadcasting of the digital television and delivery the interactive broadband service occur simultaneously. In one embodiment, digital television and broadband service are delivered by the same equipment within the same bandwidth.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a communication apparatus on a subscriber side that, in a point to multi-point communication system, transmits upstream data transmitted from a lower-level device to a station-side device based on a data transmission start time and a transmission duration time notified from the station-side device. The communication apparatus includes a logical-link control unit that determines number of links to be used, which is number of logical links to be used for an upstream data transmission in a next bandwidth update cycle, based on an accumulated data amount in an upstream buffer unit that accumulates upstream data to be transmitted to the station-side device.
Abstract:
An optical line terminal (OLT) device and an implementation method thereof, relate to the field of a passive optical network (PON). The OLT device includes an interface unit for receiving data in an Ethernet format sent by a service processing apparatus, performing protocol processing on the received data in the Ethernet format, converting the data after the protocol processing into a transmission signal corresponding to a sending interface, and then transmitting the transmission signal to an external device, as well as receiving message data sent by the external device, converting the message data for protocol processing corresponding to the service processing apparatus, converting the signal after the protocol processing into data in the Ethernet format, and transmitting the data to the service processing apparatus; the service processing apparatus performing service processing on the data transmitted by the interface unit, and transmitting the processed data to the interface unit. The technical solution of the present application realizes the miniaturization and modularization of the components in the OLT device, thereby laying a foundation for achieving the PON based triple play.
Abstract:
The use of traffic flag symbols allows a large number of CPEs to transmit traffic notifications to a network controller. In some such embodiments, hundreds of CPEs simultaneously transmit traffic flags on different subcarriers of a channel. For example, in a MoCA2 based access network, up to 480 CPEs can transmit flags in only 5 μs in the 100 MHz-wide channel.
Abstract:
A MSO deploying a standard OLT, and installed with ONUs to be used by customers to whom the MSO can connect using optical fiber. For customers that cannot be reached with optical fiber, the MSO deploys a converter between the optical fiber and the coax network so that the MSO can use the same standard OLT, and use CNUs for those customers attached to the coax network.
